Communications Workers of America Local 1101 Engage in Softball Tournament to Raise Funds for Soup Kitchen

YONKERS, NY – Union telephone operators, members of the Communications Workers of America Local 1101, are gathering from throughout Yonkers and The Bronx on August 24, 2008, for a softball tournament to raise funds for Father Ned’s Part of the Solutions Soup Kitchen (POTS) in The Bronx. Up to 15 teams are participating.

The event consumes Sunday, August 24, 2008, at
Redmond Field, 2200 Cook Avenue, Yonkers, New York, situated near
intersection of Yonkers Avenue and the Cross County Parkway., from  8:00 AM onward.

POTS provides food, clothing and shelter for the
underprivileged and homeless from all over the area. Father Ned is a
Jesuit priest affiliated with Fordham University in The Bronx and
started the soup kitchen over 25 years ago. Communications Workers of
America Local 1101 raised over $40,000 for POTS last year with over 200
people participating.
