Brio Tuscan Grille-Ridge HillYONKERS, NY — June 7, 2014 — Brio Tuscan Grill, part of the Bravo Brio Restaurant Group, has noticed the New York State Department of Labor of its closing August 28, 2014. At present, 78 people are on the chopping block.

The restaurant chain asserts the catalyst demanding the closing is a weak economy.

The company cited economics for the closing. Juxtaposed to the reality that impressed the restaurants bottom line in to 2014 is the enthusiasm that greeted the opening of the restaurant in March of 2012.

Yonkers Tribune has claimed that former Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone had a 5 percent interest in the restaurant.

  1. 2cents

Brio failed because there are way too many good Italian restaurants in the area. That spot needs a place like Buffalo Wild Wings to do well.

    1. No Cuntry For Old Men

      Real questions are:
Did they get get free rent as an incentive?
      For how long?
What tax free incentives did they get from YIDA?
      If so how much?
Does their landlord pay property taxes ?
      How much?
How many others on Sludge Hill got free rent to begin with?
How many others have paid no taxes like the properties that they couldn’t sell?
Why does no one on the council have nothing to say about this?

Let’s not forget that the developer RATner paid less than 100k per acre for land worth 240 million according to YOnkers. ($8.2 million)
None of this would happen in the free market. Then again this is a huge socialist cuntry for the rich. All of this development is subsidized by the taxpayer. None of it will last. As when the subsidies run out so will the wealthy and on to the next new tit.

It’s like Cuomo, sell NY like a cheap whore to business while fucking the rest of us. And the cheek of him then using our tax dollars to promote the idea to us via advertising. Why is the population declining ? Taxes are too high, are you listening Pee Wee Herman aka ASStorino ?

      1. CYA

You’re right. NY is a welfare state. That’s the voting block Coumo wants. On the other hand it is all kinds of tax breaks to lure in business. When the tax breaks expire the business leaves. There is nothing in the middle for anyone else, that’s why most middleclass (or what’s left of them) moves out of state. Coumo doesn’t care because he gets his voting block.

You are so right, Rich. I go out of my way never to patron Ridge Hill. The fact that the former mayor was a silent partner in one the businesses and a former councilwoman went to prison for a POS developer from Brooklyn is reason enough for me to spend my money elsewhere.

Now the current city council wants to create the same corrupt garbage at the Stew Leonard’s/Costco/Home Depot site.

Take your money elsewhere folks. Do not shop in Yonkers. Starve the beast.

  2. just the facts

brio may call itself a tuscan grille but in the city of yonkers and indeed in the county of
westchester if you are italian american or have any taste buds at all you know the difference
between arthur avenue and a chain of posers….
