According to Helen Schaub, New York State Director of Policy and Legislation at 1199 SEIU, “We are proud to endorse Maeve Scott for Yonkers City Council. The City Council needs the fresh perspective of community leaders like Maeve, and healthcare workers will work hard for her election.”
There is no doubt that Maeve has great admiration for healthcare workers. For nearly a decade, she and her family witnessed first-hand the dedication and hard work of healthcare professionals as they managed the care of her husband leading up to his successful heart transplant surgery.
On receiving the endorsement, Maeve says: “I’m extremely proud and honored to receive the 1199 SEIU endorsement and the support of its membership. The commitment and disciplined work ethic of healthcare workers is without question in my mind given my personal experience. I commend 1199 SEIU for its strong leadership fighting for high standards for healthcare workers and patients, good jobs and social justice for all. I will strive to be an equally strong advocate for unions and working families alike.”
