from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Will Library – 1500 Central Park Avenue,Yonkers, New York

YONKERS, NY — Proclaiming to be “Union and Proud of
it,” under the leadership of President Hugh Fox, Jr., the Yonkers Firefighters
of I.A.F.F. Local 628 this afternoon divulged that they will attend Mayor
Amicone’s Town Hall Meeting to call upon the Mayor to settle the Firefighters’
long overdue contract.   The three hundred (300) Yonkers Firefighters
have been working without a contract since
July 1, 2005.

Although they have been without a contract for 602
days (over 20 months), the Yonkers Firefighters are still hopeful that an
agreement can be negotiated with Mayor Amicone that will provide a reasonable
and fair cost of living increase without any givebacks.

According to President Hugh Fox, Jr. “The Yonkers
Firefighters have engaged in extensive negotiations with Mayor Amicone’s
Administration, both informally and formally, over the past several months and
to date have been unable to reach an acceptable agreement.  The Yonkers
Firefighters are simply looking for a fair and reasonable salary increase which
is in pace with the rate of inflation.”

President Hugh Fox.
Jr. and scores of Yonkers Firefighters will attend Mayor Amicone’s Town Hall
Meeting to express their displeasure at the pace and substance of negotiations
to date.  President Fox continues, “This showing of support and unity by
the members of Local 628 is just the beginning.  We will continue to make
ourselves seen and heard in numerous venues until we have a fair and equitable
contract for our members.  We are eager to put contract negotiations
behind us so that we may concentrate our efforts on what Firefighter really
care about – keeping the citizens of
Yonkers safe.”

  1. What do you classify the level of dangerousness on death in the line of duty alone? What about getting shot, hit by passing cars, getting disfigured from burns, falling off of a roof, fire escape, or ladder, being exposed to all sorts of dangerous environments, etc. And however you cut it tomorrow can be the day that a cop or fireman dies.

  2. To the poster above citing that yonkers cops under the rank of captain are bringing home unmarked cars eg the officer whose lives in the condos across from the Tucakhoe Library on Columbus Avenue – DKJ9351 -2005 Chevrolet Impala – Do you know if he gets a 1099 from the City of Yonkers – I bet he uses this car for personal use such as going to Dunkin Donuts

  3. yeah great idea…look into it. you may be surprised to see how much it would actually cost.
just ask the people who live in communities with volunteer departments how much the actual costs are and how much more they pay for fire insurance.
also see what type of development takes place in volunteer towns and villages.
maybe the lackies at city haul can volunteer for the department. at least then they would potentially have a function.
you amicone assholes are all the same – stupid.

  4. Since the firemen are not happy with what the city offered, the city should take the necessary steps to abolish half of the fire department, and turn it into a combination volunteer/paid department. It works well in other cities, and ikt COULD work well ikn Yonkers.

  5. THANKS LISA.
DID YOU ACTUALLY THINK THAT THE FIREFIGHTERS WERE GOING TO GREET YOU WARMLY ON THURSDAY?
YOU LOOKED ALMOST AS SHOCKED AS AMICONE.
GET USED TO IT…AND ALSO GET USED TO THE CAPITALS BECAUSE I LIKE TO SCREAM.

  6. Sounds like a disgruntled fireman to me. go back to sleep so you can be well rested for your b job.An arbitrator will be disasyerous for your contract. I can guarantee that!

  7. IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT THESE ADMINISTRATION MOUTHPIECES SAY ON THIS WEBSITE ABOUT COPS & FIREFIGHTERS….IT JUST SHOWS THE MAYOR’S DISDAIN FOR THE WORKING PEOPLE….BUT WHO CARES…HE WILL GET HIS JUST REWARD AND WE WILL GET OUR CONTRACT ONE WAY OR THE OTHER, EVEN IF WE HAVE TO GO TO ARBITRATION TO GET IT.
YES, PEOPLE IT’S CALLED INTEREST ARBITRATION AND THE RESULTS ARE BINDING ON BOTH SIDES. WE ARE PROHIBITED (OR RATHER FACE SEVERE PENALTIES) IF WE GO ON STRIKE BUT WE ARE PERMITTED TO DECLARE IMPASS IN NEGOTIATIONS AND GO TO ARBITRATION INSTEAD.
WITH OTHER MUNICIPALITIES RAISING SALARIES BY AS MUCH AS 4.5% PER YEAR WITH NO GIVEBACKS AN ARBITRATOR WILL MOST LIKELY IMPOSE A SIMILAR INCREASE UPON THE PARTIES IN YONKERS. AND WE ARE NOT SCARED OF LOSING A THING, ESPECIALLY GIVEN THE CITY’S CONTINUING BAD FAITH BARGAINING. IMAGINE COMING TO THE BARGAINING TABLE WITH NO OFFERS OF PERCENTAGE INCREASE IN SALARY BUT WITH ONLY A HOST OF GIVEBACK DEMANDS.
NUMEROUS EXPERTS (NOT THE UNINFORMED CITY NEGOTIATORS WHO THE MAYOR RELIES UPON) HAVE ASSURED US THAT THIS TACTIC WILL IN THE END PROVE TO BE VERY FOOLISH ON THE PART OF THE CITY AND WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT BY THE ARBITRATOR IN REACHING A BINDING SETTLEMENT. AND THE CITY REALLY HAS NO ARGUMENT ABOUT ABILITY TO PAY WHEN THE MAYOR IS GIVING THE STORE AWAY TO THE DEVELOPERS AND FRIENDS.
WE HAD HOPED TO AVOID THE COST, DELAY, AND NASTINESS OF ARBIRTRATION, BUT THE MAYOR HAS GIVEN US NO OTHER CHOICE. THIS IS WAR AND WE WILL BE IN ARBITRATION IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE UNLESS THE MAYOR GETS A GRIP ON REALITY REAL SOON.
GETTING BACK TO THE TOWN HALL MEETING.
NO MENTION OF HOW THE FIREFIGHTERS PARKED WAY DOWN CENTRAL PARK AVENUE SO AS TO ALLOW THE PUBLIC TO PARK AT THE LIBRARY.
NO MENTION OF HOW MANY FIREFIGHTERS GAVE UP THEIR SEATS TO ANY MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC THAT DIDN’T HAVE A SEAT.
NO MENTION OF HOW THE FIREFIGHTERS LET THE PEOPLE ASK THEIR QUESTIONS AND HOW THE MAYOR AND HIS PATHETIC GROUP OF COMMISSIONERS WERE ALLOWED TO ANSWER. YES! ALLOWED! WE COULD HAVE EASILY SHUT THE MEETING DOWN BUT WE DID NOT.
THE MAJOR GOT OFF REAL EASY LAST NIGHT AND SO DID HIS COMMISSIONERS, ESPECIALLY PAGANO. THESE TWO WILL NOT HAVE IT SO EASY NEXT MONTH. AND THE MAYOR WILL BE FACING US AT EVERY TURN BETWEEN NOW AND ELECTION DAY. HE WILL BE CHALLENGED ON THE REPUBLICAN LINE AND THE CONSERVATIVE LINE. IF HE MANAGES TO GET ON THE BALLOT AT ALL HE WILL FACE US DURING THE ELECTION AND HE WILL SEE WHAT INFLUENCE THE FIREFIGHTERS REALLY HAVE. BYE BYE MR. MAYOR….HERE COMES THE JUDGE.
THIS WAS JUST A WARNING SHOT ACCROSS THE BOW. THIS IS WAR AND THE MAYOR AND HIS ENTIRE BUNCH OF GROUPIES AND LACKIES AT CITY HAUL WILL BE PACKING THEIR BAGS VERY SOON.

  8. To the not real “Idiot.”
You have seen first hand, probably for about the 100th time, why most of these union members are bozos. Dumber than dumb. The firemen can somehow manage to get about five injuries hosing down a small pile of smoldering leaves.
And the cops? “Car 54 Where ARE YOU?!!!”
Answer: Cooping or in some donut shop.

  9. A Yonkers city car is always parked across from the Tuckahoe NY Library on Columbus Avenue. The person who is taking this car home lives in the condos above Columbus Avenue in Tuckahoe. The City of Yonkers car always parked a a metered space with no money in the meter. This is on a Satursday daytime and any evening of the week. The car is DKJ9351 – VIN –
2G1WF52K159359366- 2005 Chevrolet Impala Dark Blue. It was learned that this car belings to a cop in the Special Investigations unit. The car never recives a ticket for not being fed coins in the meter. On the dashboard is a City of Yonkers Police card

  10. This is the IDIOT addressing the other
IDIOT: You hav the audacity to
compare the soliders fighting in Iraq
    with police and firefighters in
Yonkers. How many police and fire-
fighters are killed everyday in Yonkers?
My grandson is serving with the
Marines in Afghanistan and I am sure
he would be happy to trade place with
you. I am sure to sleep well knowing
you are out there protecting us from
things that go BUMP in the night. You
sound like real civil service STUPID!
BUMP in the night. You sounds like a
    typical civil service STUPID.

  11. Maybe Hezi or the JN could do a story and actually list the top 50 wage earners for 2006 in the PD and FD, and report the top 10 pensioneers as well, also list the names, and positions of EVERY emplyee who takes a car home at night. IT will be a very interesting story., but alas, you will never see it.

  12. A Yoniers city car is always parked across from the Tuckahoe NY Library on Columbus Avenue. The person who is taking this car home lives in the condos above Columbus Avenue in Tucakhoe. The City of Yonkers car alays parked a a metered space with no money in the meter. This is on a Satursday daytime and any evening of the week. The car is DKJ9351 – VIN –
2G1WF52K159359366. It was learned that this car belings to a cop in the Special Investigations unit. The car never reecives a ticket for not being fed coins in the meter. On the dashboard is a City of Yonkers Police card

  13. To the above…you are 100% correct. In fact I have told Hezi many times that this site flourishes in a city like Yonkers with it’s unique political climate. You can also count on it that the city fathers would pay $$$ yesterday to make the webmaster go away.
That is exactly what happened a few years back with that short lived “Yonkers Report” tabloid. Remember that one ?? $80K changed hands supposedly. Iovine may have reported it too I believe.

  14. How sad is it that nothing in the City of Hills functions. There is so much hatred for the elected officals that God only knows who elects them. They are all crooked and takers and they do not give a damn about the city or the trash that lets them in office consistantly !!!Thier only concern is making a deal to accommodate thier wallets..Dems as well as Reps..they are all the same..just a different color. They haven’t an ounce of integrity and they never will..They are consistantly recycled and the city ends up begging for money. How about shelling some of the money out of thier pockets to the betterment of getting someone unkown to these Rats…Oh to dream.Yonkers is a cess pool loaded with poop…two legged poop !!!God help the people of Yonkers. Nothing is ever going to change.Same old same old..

  15. If the Journal News is correct, and you have to consider that source, and Yonkers Police and Firefighters are earning $90 – $138,000, you have to know that they are working a significant number of hours overtime. Want them to earn a salary closer to their base pays? Hire more Police and Firefighters! Remember, that their pensions are driven by the amount of salary earned in their last three years. If those of you who are posting and suggesting that they earn too much money for the job they do, I would suggest that you walk in their shoes before making that kind of statement. And no, I don’t belong to a union, I’m not a Police Officer nor Firefighter but I am a homeowner who does pay real property taxes that have gone up over 25% since Amicone became Mayor! I damn sure am not happy about that. But, I am secure in knowing that God forbid there is a need for a Police Officer or Firefighter, I don’t have to wait for some insurance salesman or bottle washer to leave his job to drive to the firehouse to volunteer to put out the fire or catch the criminal! Be thankful that we do have professional uniformed service personnel and that includes the personnel from DPW.

  16. Wow….the grass must be wafting high in the fire houses or police stations today.
Yonkers cops and fire are front-line defenders in the War On Terror???? How delusional is THAT?
Then get your fat butts over to the Middle East!
    LOL!

  17. TO THE IDIOT THAT TRIES TO MAKE THE DESTINCTION BETWEEN THE POLICE & FIRE AND THE TROOPS IN IRAQ, READ THE PAPERS. The complaints about the troops being underpaid are numerous. All are front line defenders in the war on terror. What is your point.

  18. If that is true—and it probably is not except maybe at a handful of high-cost buildings–then all the Yonkers cops, firemen, teachers and other union members who are gnashing their teeth and making fools of themselves should just become doormen in Manhattan.

  19. In the Daily News a few years back it was reported that some door men in the city were earning
upwards of $150,ooo to as much as $200,ooo per year in wages and tips.
Not bad for opening doors and pushing buttons.

  20. I think they both should have to take updated physicals ever 3-5 years. You need it to get in why not keep them in good shape. Some of these cops and firemen put on about 20-60 lbs after a couple of years. They can not run into a building or run after a criminal. Why get a raise if you can’t do the job????

  21. Bulling workings on the 6th grade playground. Grow up and shut up. Firemen work your 3-4 days per month and do your side job and go back up the line with your Yonkers paycheck. Police work a bit more but most sit in cars all day. I think they both should have to take updated physicals ever 3-5 years. You need it to get in why not keep them in good shape. Some of these cops and firemen put on about 20-60 lbs after a couple of years. They can not run into a building or run after a criminal. Why get a raise if you can’t do the job????

  22. Police and Fire do a great job, I agree but they are paid very well. They get paid the money for the job they signed up for. Don’t take the job if you don’t like the pay. Plain and simple.

  23. Colonel—The number of city cars is down substantially from Spencer’s giveaways, when the number reached a sickening 231. But there are still too many.
And you are right on about the Council cars and others like Doran, too. They are all phonies.

  24. Just get rid of the UNION’S. Back in the day they were good for people, now they are taking advantage of people. Police and Fire do a great job, I agree but they are paid very well. They get paid the money for the job they signed up for. Don’t take the job if you don’t like the pay. Plain and simple. Bulling workings on the 6th grade playground. Grow up and shut up. Firemen work your 3-4 days per month and do your side job and go back up the line with your Yonkers paycheck. Police work a bit more but most sit in cars all day. Some of these cops and firemen put on about 20-60 lbs after a couple of years. They can not run into a building or run after a criminal. Why get a raise if you can’t do the job????

  25. Thanks to the “union” door man who attended last night’s town hall metting for all the above
posts bashing the cops and firemen
in Yonkers. We realize that you probably took the tests to get hired in Yonkers but you were way to fat and stupid to do well. So go find a rock and crawl under it.

  26. THIS IS AMERICA………..AND THE UNIONS WILL ALWAYS FIGHT FOR MORE FOR THEIR MEMBERS…………AS TAX PAYERS WE WANT MORE FOR OUR TAXES JUST LIKE THE MEN AND WOMAN OF THE CITY UNIONS WANT MORE FOR THEIR SERVICES…………WHATEVER YOUR OPINION IS…….DONT BE CRITICAL ON PEOPLE TRYING TO GET MORE.

  27. Judge Arthur Doran has a city car. And this must be made public during the elections. A majority of your own city councilmembers still use city cars and a few SUV’s. Chuck the great campaign “reformer” drives one.
The Journal News should re visit the city car issue and screw Amicone if he doesn’t like it.
    Col Von Ryan
    YONKERS TRIBUNE RULES

  28. These cars for some cops to take home are another perk that is costly and unnecessary and should be removed.
The unions are doing great harm to themselves with their hooligan tactics. Residents do not like the unions, at least the residents who vote and pay taxes.
And those many citizens in particular are really the ones who count when they see you strong-arming anyone to further line your pockets at TAXPAYER expense.
However, if the Yonkers unions, who are well-compensated and get plenty of perks and benefits on top of that, want to hurt themselves even more, fine. Do it.
Also, if they don’t like their jobs, then quit. Go make sandwiches in a deli or drive a truck. There will be plenty of able-bodied and less greed-driven candidates who will line up for your jobs if you don’t want them.

  29. Regarding take home cars in the YPD: All Captains have take home cars, including those in adminstrtative positions who have no patrol functions whatsoever. There is no reason a Captain in charge of the Records Dept,Courts, etc needing city cars. This also inludes the Lt. assigned to the Commissioner’s office. When Al McEvoy was Commissioner a strict policy was enacted with take home cars. That all went out the window and the new Commissioner needs to re think this. ( OR MAYBE NEEDS TO BE SHAMED INTO DOING SO VIA THIS SITE) Most of the YPD Captains with take home cars live way up county. Somebody with a silver YPD Monte Carlo actually has an EZ pass. YFD likely has some take home cars as well.
Government take home cars are considered a taxable benefit. Is the IRS aware of this ????? And your library director drives his car upstate every night. The city car issue lives on. Many thanks to SUV Phil, the great environmentalist.

  30. Yeah the JN is correct.
When a firefighter works HUNDREDS of hours of OVERTIME (because the CITY refuses to hire new firefighters because there is a FEMALE on the list who WILL be hired) then that firefighter whose base pay is around $70,000 will make over $90,000 WITH OVERTIME.
How many useless people in City Hall make $110,000 $115,000 $125,000 and $140,000 and up? But that’s ok, right?
The firefighters deserve every penny they make and they deserve alot more.
So yes, we want a raise to keep up with the cost of living. If you don’t like that then too bad! We’re not going to apologize for making a decent living for the work we do and we’re not going to let this Mayor or anyone else change that. PERIOD.

  31. Last night was just the beginning.
We will follow this clown of a mayor around and haunt him and be his worst nightmare.
And take note Mr. Simpson, that we will be there for events like the Main St. building “topping-off” ceremony. We will have our members there at all events like that. We will be relentless.
And “Business Week”…I think this year’s will be a sell-out! There will be HUNDREDS of us out there EVERY DAY AND NIGHT. Can’t wait to see you try and spin for the “business community.”
This will be fun. And just remember that we were here before you and we’ll be here long after you are all gone. Which couldn’t be soon enough.

  32. THIS SITE IS JUST FULL OF AMICONE ASSHOLES.
THEY ARE WORTHLESS CITY HAUL WHORES WHO WOULDN’T HAVE A JOB ANYWHERE ELSE BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST POLITICAL LACKEES WHO DEPEND UPON THE PUBLIC TIT.
SIMPSON IS THE PERFECT EXAMPLE. WHAT AN ASS HE IS. AS WELL AS FLEMMING AND REAGAN. ALL USELESS!

  33. YES!!! Today’s Journal News has all the numbers. The average salaries for police and fire are way too high for their education, background, responsibilites and so on.
What they get is ridiculously too much.
They also get plenty more than comparable departments across the US except for some cops out on stupid Long Island. And they get way more than NYC, which is a much more difficult place to work.
And then the gorillas disrupt the Town Hall meeting.
Any sympathy anyone might have had for them is GONE now. G-O-N-E!! Greedy s.o.b’s.
And a major “F. You” to the likes of Spencer and his predecessors who bought votes by handing out far too much taxpayer money to these ingrates.

  34. The JN reports that Police and Firemen make $90,000 to $138,000 a year? Perhaps the scrubs dont but most do. AND THEY ARE COMPLAINING?
Perhaps the fat ass lazy cops who sit at 7-11 on Bronx River Rd and eat free donuts all day should refund some of their salaries to the people. THEY DO NOTHING FOR HOURS ON END. Community policing does NOT mean stuffing your face with food and sitting on your ass.
Yonkers is a blue collar city for the most part with people who struggle to make ends meet. Then these guys, many who do not even live here, have the balls to whine like children and then intimidate residents at meeting and take up space?
When they get of their fat asses, stop eating donuts and DO SOMETHING, maybe they should get a small increase. Based on their current performance, these slobs should get a pay cut.

  35. No one will ever confuse Pagano with Albert Einstein. Or with the veggie man Moishe Einstein either, for that matter.
Pagano insists he can spell cat. He learned how in 8th grade.

  36. How come SHITBIRD PAGANO got a raise when he cant even spell CAT. The man is a MORON, ask him to write a letter you will laugh your ass off, i have worked with him for years. The man is DUMB,but in Yonkers that is par for the course.

  37. Does anyone know the policy in the City of Yonkers Police Department of bringing home unmarked cars. The last time a posting was made of this only Captains were allowed to bring home unmarked cars. this is not the case. Many cops in Yonkers are bringing home City cars.

  38. Does anyone know the policy in the City of Yonkers Polcie Department of bringing home unmarked cars. The last time a posting was madeof this only Captains were allowed to bring home unmarked cars. this is not the case. Many cops in Yonkers are brining hoem City cars.

  39. When is the last time a Yonkers cop was killed in the line of duty? A long time ago.
And not counting suicides because of their own problems, when is the last time a YFD member was killed on the job?
The complaints about “dangerous jobs” are absurd. Nobody makes anyone take them. Just the opposite is true…they all WANT them because of the perks and the “Life of Reilly” many have. Their whining doesn’t have any believabilty. NONE.
They are well-paid now, and have too many free benefits. And then they pad their pensions by racking up fake overtime in their last year.
They should be made to work 30 years–on desk jobs if necessary in later years–before they can walk out.

  40. I agree with most of the post, but in
all fairness, I think it is time that
our elected officials lead by example.
Why should part time council people get
health care for themselves and family,
large staffs, cars, cell phones and
many perks I’m sure I missed. If the
city’s finances are in bad shape, the
elected officials should be the first
to step up to the plate and make some
    much needed sacrifices.
“Money is not the root of all evil,
    it’s the lack of.”
    REV. IKE

  41. Nobody in the private sector gets:
    Night differential pay
    Clothing allowances every year.
Terminal Leave of 3 days pay for each year worked. ??? !!!!
Pensions at half pay after 20 years.
But in all fairness, you don’t go home early when it snows like us or have casual dress on Fridays.

  42. Is the job more dangerous than the
soliders in Iraq? How much are they
paid and what kind of a raise will they
be getting? Do they get paid overtime?
Let all of these selfish cry babies
quit and maybe some returning vets will
be more than happy to fill the jobs.

  43. To the above poster who feels that the
job of police or fire is life threaten=
ing…QUIT. They will be lined up to
take you place. Besides how does pay=
ing you more money make the job less
    dangerous?

  44. A 2% raise is more than fair. How about all those cops making $150,000-$200,000 per year. Not making enough?, How about all those $100,000 per year or more pensions, not enough? Give me a break, in the real business world nobody would be getting those kinds of benefits. Amicone is right, it is time to think of the taxpayers. Cut back on ALL city overtime. Isn’t ANYBODY watching the store? Maybe if the mayor doesn’t get his increased aid from Albany, this time somebody will keep an eye on city spending.
    ENOUGH is ENOUGH!!!!!!!

  45. High time for some meaningful union GIVEBACKS.
You big mouth wannabee ’50s Longshoremen goons should see what’s going on in Jersey with the governor and the biggest unions in the state. Givebacks. Contributions.
And for the teachers, age 60 or 30 years on the job before you can leave and collect a pension.
And Jersey right now is in better shape financially than Yonkers is. Over the years, the unions made sure to milk Yonkers—aided and abetted by weasel politicians buying votes. Shame on all of you.
But the times they are a-changin’.

  46. Good to see all the union stupidos are intent on hanging themselves. As the MASH theme song revealed, it ain’t so bad. “Suicide is Painless.” So go to it.
If needed, many thousands of taxpayers will direct you to appropriate trees. And they’ll even sell you ropes, with strings attached, naturally.

  47. Not all republicans are anti union.A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF US ARE UNION WORKERS OURSELVES. What has really brought us to this point of fiscal instability again. You can only blame those (past and present)who were elected to the mayor’s office with the promise (not intent)to bring us into fiscal independence. Don’t blame the unions for accepting the raises and benifits they were given by politicians looking for returns (favors)for their investments. And for those on this site who think that the police and fire persons are overpaid what formula did you use to figure out what the life of a police person or firefighter is worth.Since we willingly and knowingly put ourselves in life threatening situations I would hope that you go back and reassess your calculation. And while you are reassessing that calculation figure out your savings as a taxpayer receiving the services that you do as oppossed to someone who pays for those same services individually. Then go and ask the Mayor why even though he knew he needed to raise taxes more than 5% he refused to do so. Was it because of his concern for the taxpayers of Yonkers or was he concerned about what impact it would have on his reelection bid. If his concern was for the taxpayers he forgot to consider those tax paying civil servants who deliver those essentail services. The only thing the Mayor is willing to give the unions is an unrewarded pat on the back for helping to make Yonkers an attractive place to do business. He rewards the developers and contractors with much ($$$$) much ($$$$) more.

  48. hey many in the “real” world have had to settle for 2% raises. what’s wrong with that?
taxpayers would like to see everyone get a fair raise –question is what is fair?
what are the unions asking for?

  49. Amicone has announced his new budget strategy:
1 – Give every tax break imaginable to business and developers
2 – Waste money with 311 nonsense and hiring political lackies at City Hall
3- Try to stick it to the unions with 2% raises
4 – Beg Albany for help (again) and try not to appear like the boy crying wolf
5 – Stick head in sand and hope no one notices

  50. The word on the street is that DPW will soon start letting the garbage pile up around the City. They were screwed by Amicone and want to help put him and his crew out with the trash. Come on board guys, there’s a lot of trash to take out of City Haul

  51. *****************News Flash*****************
ALL OF THE CITY’S MUNICIPAL UNIONS WILL BE PRESENT IN FORCE FOR THIS EVENING’S TOWN HALL MEETING.
AMICONE WILL BE SWEATING IT FOR SURE.
    AMICONE IS DONE.

  52. How many actually live in Yonkers? If you drive by any Fire station there are more Connecticut plates than New York plates. They all should be made live in the City and Ditto for any municipal employees.

  53. Yes, Lopez is still on the city payroll along with her needless city car used for more shoplifting trips to Shop Rite as covered up by her YPD boss friend Sullivan.
Has Hartnett heard that lovely story yet??

  54. Is Lopez still on the city (taxpayers)
    payroll? What about Blanchard’s son?
How many Blanchards on the city
(taxpayers) payroll? How many of these
    poor under-paid firefighters have other
jobs or are running a business?

  55. Dere go da judge. Dere go da judge. FORE!
What courtroom? What responsibilities? What serious felony charges? I’ll turn her loose without any bail. I know her! I’ll even be her character witness. She’s a model citizen.
Heroin smuggling from the city jail? Poof. A mere trifle. Turn her loose now. But first let me give her a hug.
    LOL.

  56. Fireito was kept by Amachones until this January when he had to get rid of him before his re-election bid. So the Amachoes supporter above has no real sense of reality.

  57. Labor unrest! All City unions are without a contract!
Amicone is offering zero’s but at the same time hiring under qualified people at city hall, example Ferrito, Pagano these 2 have GED educations and are (were) making (Ferrito $125,000) and (pagano $150,000), not bad for a GED! Now he is hiring all of Spano’s people at top salaries, but the people that protect us everyday, police & Fire are told to suck it up for the taxpayer.

  58. Go Sandy!! Go get ’em. You can do it.
Even though Little Orphan Annie’s dog is also named Sandy, she can still beat the sorry likes of “No Bid” Robertson and “What’s My Tee Time” Doran.
Doran brings another meaning to “afternoon tea.” His meaning was to sneak out of his job for his afternoon tee.

  59. Sweep? The Dems can’t sweep out their own clubhouses. And they sure can’t sweep in any Yonkers election. Their candidates will fold like yesterday’s newspaper when their serious shortcomings are revealed.
The Dems should worry about each other first. There is this primary thing. Maybe Sandy Annabi will win the primary!!!

  60. If Doran was Mayor at least he might take the developers golfing and negotiate a good deal for the city.
Amicone and his pathetic staff couldn’t negotiate a good deal for the city even if they TRIED

  61. If City Haul were as professional, effective and efficient as the Firefighters then Yonkers would truly be in good hands.
Unfortunately, City Haul is inept, corrupt, and in the pockets of the developers.
It’s long overdue to get rid of the whole rotten bunch and elect leaders who actually care about the people and not just themselves and the developers.
    Democratic Sweep in Yonkers 2007

  62. Go Dems? Right on. Go Dems—far, far away.
Robertson has many problems concerning his past dealings, and Doran is more likely to be elected caddymaster at Dunwoodie than mayor of Yonkers.
The firemen? Like in those scandals in NYC with women at firehouses, ya sometimes gotta wonder if they are faster going to fire scenes—or when racing back to the firehouse for some afternoon delight or to stoke up the barby. Or Barbie.

  63. hey simpson,
you made an ass of yourself and amicone in your quoted comments in the journal news today
mcdow and robinson are correct – the only people amicone and company are concerned about are the developers and not the people who actually do the work in the city
just like how amicone screwed the uft, csea, dpw, etc.
now its time for the workers (city workers and non-city workers)to stand together and get rid of all the republicans in Yonkers
    GO DEMS

  64. that’s funny…”If Amicone holds the line”
what pray tell are you referring to simpson?
    the republican and conservative lines?
amicone will not be on ANY line (other than the unemployment line)

  65. The union grovelers and moaners on this site are actually funny. Times have changed. The public is fed up with your years of extorting taxpayer money.
The taxpayers are solidly anti-union, and that makes them pro-Amicone if he holds the line.
You can vent here all you want. It makes not one bit of difference if a couple hundred people read the nonsense you spew out. Especially since most of those readers are disgusted with you, and have been for a long while.
So vent away. Dr. Hezi Aris should charge you for the therapy outlet you are using. LOL.

  66. Did anyone see Amicone at the topping off of the building on Main Street?
Looked right at home in his hard hat.
Wonder how he’s going to look at events like that when there are big blow up rats and crowds of City UNION workers chanting about their lack of a contract?
Wonder what kind of effect such demonstrations will have on the UNION workers who are constructing and delivering supplies to the projects?
    Wonder Wonder WonderFULL

  67. I wonder how Mike Edelman the “amicone apologist” is going to be able to spin the labor unrest in Yonkes on point counter point?
The fact is that there is MAJOR labor unrest in Yonkers. The unions are going to stick it to the mayor real good.
From here on out, there will be demonstrations and outcry that will embarass the mayor in front of the only people he care about – the developers.

  68. Will the firefighters be the only union there or will the other unions show up as well?
I think that the Police unions are also without a contract and so are some of the other unions.
And what about the teachers? Is there contract up? Will they be there?
I’m going to go just to see what happens. This could be interesting, very interesting.

  69. ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS A MAYOR IN YONKERS CALLED AMICONE AND HE SUCKED SO THE PEOPLE THREW HIM OUT OF OFFICE AND ELECTED A REAL MAYOR AGAIN AND THE CITY FINALLY BEGAN TO PROSPER AND GROW THE WAY IT WAS DESTINED TO.

  70. what’s all the fuss about?
give the workers a fair raise
    to keep up with inflation.
    the mayor’s doing ok, except
for this and a few other issues
get on with already and let’s
    talk politics not unions

  71. The only ZEROS is Yonkers is Amicone + Simpson + Flemming + Regan + Lisa + the last of the Replublicans….YAHOOOOOOOOOOO
Can’t wait till the Dems trounce again…get rid of all the filthy republicans.
DEMS DEMS DEMS DEMS DEMS DEMS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  72. Open Invitation to all Mayoral Candidates (One of which WILL replace Amicone because he is history) to go to the Mayor’s Town Gall Meeting and take advantage of the opportunity that has been put before you. Which one of you has what it takes?

  73. The only thing Amicone is going to bring home is empty promises of good times to come. All we ever hear from Amicone is that the City is headed in the right track and the payoff is just around the corner. Yeah, right!
Amicone hasn’t created any new tax base to speak of since he was elected. All he’s been able to do is screw the taxpayers and beg up in Albany for help…all the while giving the store away to the developers in Yonkers.
    Amicone is Amigone very soon!
    Bye Phil…Hello One-Eye!
DEMOCRATS ALL THE WAY…you got the unions behind you—BIG TIME THIS TIME!

  74. Who cares about the police union? About 90 percent of them don’t even live in Yonkers. They just take the money out of Yonkers, and that’s all they care about.

  75. OINK! OINK! Love to hear those Union Pigs squealing as we begin the Chinese Year of The Pig.
Maybe Amicone intends to bring home the bacon for the taxpayers this time around. The union hogs have been stuffing themselves at the public trough long enough.
WAAAAAY long enough. The union days of wine and roses are coming to a close. It’s about time.

  76. I agree with the above poster. Amicone
and Spencer have been spendng tax $$$
like manna from heaven and the unions,
    especially the firefighters, have been
front and center cheering them on. I
have been present at many public meet-
ings where the firefights union were
    hissing and shouting down taxpayers
trying to speak out against a proposal
the administration was pushing. So I
guess every now and then people get
what they deserve. These unions have
NO respect for the taxpaying citizens.
Maybe they can support their mascot
    Vinnie Restiano.

  77. Amicone will regret that he ever messed with the unions – especially the Police Unions.
Amicone is finished in politics and will be gone very very soon. Then he can go back and work as an “engineer” for Cappelli and company. But Amicone forgot that Yonkers is not New Rochelle or White Plains and Cappelli will never follow through with the Yonkers projects. The people in Yonkers are too smart for Cappelli and Amicone

  78. Amicone’s “puppet boy” Simpson is at it again. If he would only check his facts before he opens his mouth.
First of all, the YFD is NOT anywhere near the highest paid in the US. Not even close!
Any budget gap has been caused by mismanagement by Spencer and Amicone…PERIOD. The citizens of Yonkers have experienced large tax increases almost every year for the past 12 years yet we always find our selves in the red and without money. Why is this? Because Amicone (and Spencer) have given away tax breaks to all the developers at the expense of the taxpayers.
    Amicone will be exposed!
    Amicone will be exposed!
Amicone will be fired in November!

  79. These firemen are playing with each other’s hoses.
The YFD is one of the best-paid in the entire US. That is a matter of public record.
There also is a budget gap in Yonkers. And the taxpayers have been screwed way too often by all the leech unions.
Go play with your hoses, boys. But please leave the Dalmations alone. They deserve better.

  80. Yeah what you really care about is yourselves — come on taxpayers are sick of these bullying tactics.
I hope you all come to the toewn meeting and show the taxpayers what you are really concerned about
