  1. Chuck sat on city Board of Contract and Supply and said NOTHING when police brass decided their 3 year old SUV’s needed to be upgraded. This was when gas was $4.00 a gallon no less and environmentalist Chuck says squat about it. Most of these vehicles go back and forth to Mahopac everyday on your dime and the mayor will not even suggest eliminating any of them—for shame!!
Funny, one city owned Malibu even has 2 baby seats in the back!!! Sorry I did not have my camera with me for that one…
    Livid taxpayers

  2. Why do all the YPD bosses need take home cars? They drive to work and sit in an office all day. These cars get driven all over the city by their admins who should be out on patrol. To add insult to injury bosses are all driving brand new vehicles that were received after the mayor announced budget crisis. Cars were delivered while layoffs were being threatened and other unions were making give backs. Compare Friday night and Monday morning mileage and you will see proof of abuse.

  3. These two Job notices are posted on the City of Yonkers Website. Police Commissioner posting has been there since last year.

    INSPECTOR GENERAL

  4. Yes, bring Brian back and get rid of NASCAR Marty and the BRAWLER. Right there you have saved over $300,000.
The city looks like a pigsty. Potholes, litter, traffic lines in much need of painting and trees falling down. Where are our tax $$ going?
Why don’t these green people address the filth? They concern themselves with leaf blowers, but the filth doesn’t seem to bother them.

  5. Wow, we miss Brian. He kept the north end clean and everyone always got a smile, and a hello, along with the fact he knew everyone’s name. In these bleak times, clean streets and this ranger’s presence are sorely missed!

  6. Eddie Armour is ALSO a b.s. artist. Same as Amicone is.
The real complaints here should be about the huge taxes paid for that Board of Education and the YPS. Does anyone think they are getting their money’s worth with the BOE budgets?
They should hire correction guards and do without teachers.
All this money is being wasted…or much of it is. Way too many of those bums in the YPS should be thrown out for good. The schools are a mess because of the poor quality of the “students.”
Wanna keep paying big tax bucks for this? CUT THE BOARD OF ED BUDGET!

  7. I agree with the last two posters, but remember all councilwoman G. can do is pass these complaints on to the mayor who doesn’t give a damn. Tonight on News 12 he denied that there was any trouble at Gorton H.S. in spite of what Eddie Armour and the community had to say. I think his motto is: Who are you going to believe me or your lying eyes.

  8. I AM A LIFE LONG RESIDENT OF THE CITY OF YONKERS AND AM DOWN AT THE JFK MIRINA ON A REGULAR BASIS AND BECAUSE OF BUDGET RESTRAINTS THEY HAVE ELIMIATED THE PARK ATTENDANT THERE BY THE PARK HAS BECOME
A HELL HOLE THE BATHROOMS ARE NOT BEING OPEN AND WITH THE WARMER WEATHER COMING ITS BEEN INPOSSIBLE TO GET A RESPONSE FROM THE COMMISIONER AND DEP COMMISIONER OF PARKS
ON WEATHER THEY PLAN ON PUTTING PORTIBLE BATHROOMS THE ONLY REASON THERE WAS ONE THERE WAS LAST YR WAS BECAUSE THE FIRE LT STATION THERE COMPLAINED THIS IS NOT ONLY A HEALTH HAZARD BUT ITS DISGUSING WHEN PEOPLE IN GENERAL ARE USING THE BACK OF THE BUILDING AS A BATHROOM
ITS A QUILITY OF LIFE ISSUE AND I HOPE YOU WILL ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM AND CORRECT IT
    THANK YOU

  9. Your right, but the buck stops with the mayor. He did a good job under Spencer, but a clean city is not a priority for this mayor.

  10. I agree with the poster about the DPW Commissioner. He’s useless. Gas problems with the cars happened because there was no oversight. Graffiti on our walls forever, potholes in our streets. To look at his dumb, stupid look on his face would almost cause one to feel sorry for the inept Liszewski. Replace this guy before it gets any worse. He’s taken his job for granted for too long.

  11. Ah! the Gronowski the Great. She is the only one of our elected officials doing her job, by looking out for the taxpayer.

  12. To Anonymous:
I’m sorry you will be unable to attend this meeting, and appreciate your sharing your concerns about the quality of life issues in the city. I try and make it a point, as I ride around the city, to take note of potholes, broken sidewalks, debris etc. and immediately send notes to the administration so they can be addressed. I call in these issues no matter what district I happen to be in when I see them. I also petitioned twice to have the rangers in the Lake Avenue and Roberts Avenue areas restored, not only for their obvious success in keeping the areas clean, but also due to their tremendous influence in contribuing to the morale of both shopping districts.
When I cast a “no” vote for last year’s Fiscal Year 2009 budget, I cited numerous cuts that could have been made – city cars, illegal civil service employees, duplicate and unnecessary offices etc. – but none were made at that time. I will continue to ask the same questions and raise the same issues when we begin our budget hearings next month.
Thank you, again, for your interest.
    Joan Gronowski

  13. I cannot attend your meeting Ms Gronowski. So I’m using this opportunity to tell you what my concerns are: I live in the north section of your dist. and the potholes, litter and overall filth of this area are not only depressing, but embarrassing. I have spoke to you about this before and in NO way hold you responsible. This mayor’s priorities are screwed up and the DPW Comm. is AWOL. I do think that the YCC should use what little bully pulpit they have to keep hammering away at this and maybe, just maybe you can embarrass this mayor into action. We must also bring back the Rangers. Take Lopez, Peterson and some of the others out of the budget. These people are not necessary, but the Rangers are.
    Thank you.

  14. Based upon the news item posted below, (i.e. the parking at City Hall) I am interested in what this Councilperson has to say. I will go.
