Amicone-Phil-postulatingstance  YONKERS, NY — July 14, 2010 — Yonkers, N.Y. (July 14, 2010) — The following is an official statement from Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone regarding the announcement made today by state legislators about the promised restoration of $36.4 million in funding for the Yonkers Public Schools.

"There is no credit to be taken here, only responsibility for correcting a near disastrous mistake that would have imperiled our schools. And while it's refreshing to see legislators taking responsibility, what would be even better is to see them not make those mistakes in the first place. Fortunately, in this case, the governor and leaders of both houses have prevented further damage being done to our school budget."  - Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone
