YONKERS, NY, July 7, 2010 — On July 6, 2010 at approximately 12:52 a.m. police responded to the area of 341 Walnut Street on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, police interviewed a witness who reported seeing four shots fired from a green pick-up truck, which then traveled north on Walnut Street towards Yonkers Ave. Police discovered four spent shell casings in front of 341 Walnut Street. Detectives are investigating and anyone with information is asked to call Yonkers Police at 377-7725.
On July 7, 2010 at approximately 1:24 a.m. members of the Yonkers Police Street Crime Unit conducted a surveillance of the Elm Street area due to an increase in shootings and gang violence. While watching a group of males congregating in front of 125 Elm Street, police recognized one male, Bernard Potillo, as having an active parole warrant for his arrest. Upon seeing the officers approach, Potillo began to walk west on Elm Street and then ran into an alleyway. Police gave chase and observed Potillo place a clear plastic bag containing what appeared to be crack/cocaine on a window sill in the alley. Police were able to catch Potillo in the rear of the building, and recovered the clear plastic bag which was found to contain 90 zip lock bags containing what appeared to be crack/cocaine. Bernard Potillo, d.o.b. 11/17/83, of 31 Bartells Place, New Rochelle, NY was charged with CPCS 3rd degree. He was also booked for an active warrant for Robbery 1st degree.
