Yonkers, NY, August 22, 2010 — Yonkers Deputy DPW Commissioner Michael Ruggiero crashed a city owned SUV in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, in October of 2003. The report was hushed up until it made the headlines in January 200. Mr Ruggiero had departed a Hastings bar in a drunken stupor. He was driving in a southerly direction in the SUV towards Yonkers. Police found him crashed into a telephone pole. Prior to smashing into a telephone pole, against which he totaled the vehicle, he damaged a few cars along Washington Street. The City of Yonkers (CoY) was not reimbursed the cost of the car he crashed, nor the suit filed and won against CoY. Mr Ruggiero was enrolled in a detox program and recieved counseling operated by CoY He had pleaded guilty to the offense at that time. This reporter remembers Mr Ruggiero’s alcohol level was judged to be three times the legal limit at that time. This Sunday, August 22, 2010, Yonkers Tribune has learned Mr Ruggiero was again picked up by Yonkers Police and arrested for DWI.
