YPD Make Arrest in July 6th Double Murder
Yonkers, NY, August 27, 2010 — On Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at approximately 1:09 a.m., Yonkers Police responded to 77 Locust Hill Avenue on the reports of multiple shots fired. Police were directed to a 9th floor apartment where several people were found to be the victims of gunshot wounds. As ambulance personnel treated and transported victims to local area hospitals, two of the victims were pronounced dead by the ambulance personnel.
21 year old Kasheem Little and 23 year old Carlton McLeod, both of 77 Locust Hill Avenue, were pronounced deceased, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. In addition, four other individuals were taken to local hospitals suffering from gunshot wounds. A 5 year old boy was shot in the arm and listed as in stable condition. A 17 year old female was shot in the chest and leg and is listed in stable condition. A 33 year old male was shot in the shoulder, arm and torso and is listed in stable condition. Also, a 56 year old male was shot in the left arm, lower back/hip area and is currently listed as stable.
On August 26, 2010 at approximately 8:45 p.m. Yonkers Police arrested 21 year old Brian Roach of 179 Woodworth Avenue in connection with the July 6th double murder at 77 Locust Hill Avenue. Yonkers Police apprehended Roach as he attempted to exit the rear of 9 Van Cortlandt Park Avenue. Roach was observed attempting to hide a handgun inside a stairwell before fleeing the building. A 9mm Beretta handgun was recovered from the stairwell. Roach was charged with Murder 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree.

On August 26, 2010 Yonkers Police conducted surveillance in the vicinity of Sweetfield Circle and Midland Avenue on information of recent drug activity in the area. At approximately 10:43 p.m. plainclothes officers conducted a traffic stop at Yonkers Ave and Midland Avenue and arrested the driver for driving with a revoked license. A search of the vehicle revealed it to contain 15 large clear plastic bags of alleged marijuana.
The driver, later identified as James Carey, d.o.b. 8/5/86 of 143 Sweetfield Circle was charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana 1st degree and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd degree. As the investigation continued, Yonkers Police responded to 143 Sweetfield Circle and confiscated 6 large bags of alleged marijuana and assorted hydroponics equipment.
Arrested were Robert Carey, d.o.b. 5/26/56 of 143 Sweetfield Circle and Scott Turner, d.o.b. 11/13/59 of Clearwater Florida. Both were charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana 1st degree.
