Yonkers, NY, September 14, 2010 — On 09/14/10, at approximately 0005 hrs, multiple Police units responded to an anonymous report of a burglary in progress at a garage at 333 Walnut St. The caller gave a description of the suspects. One of the first responding units did observe a male fitting that description standing in front of the garage and this male, later identified as a 20 year old Mt. Vernon resident, Alan M. Nieves, began walking away from the area when he saw the Police Officers. The Officers stopped this male a short distance away and this male was subsequently identified as one of the males involved in the burglary and he was placed under arrest. The other responding units set up a perimeter at the location and awaited the arrival of the building owner. Upon his arrival, a search of the garage was conducted and three more suspects were found in the garage. One suspect, 21 year old Yonkers resident Chayanne Castillo, resisted arrest and after a brief struggle, he was placed in custody. During the struggle, the K-9 Police dog bit and held the suspect on the left calf until he could be placed in handcuffs. This male was treated at the hospital and then released back into police custody. The other two males, both Yonkers residents, 21 year old Jonathan Paredes, and 20 year old Mark Clayton were placed under arrest without incident. These males were booked for various charges including Burglary 3rd, Resisting Arrest, Attempted Petit Larceny, and Criminal Mischief 3rd and lodged at the City Jail.
On 9/14/10, at approximately 0139 hrs, a Yonkers resident was in the Cross County Shopping Center parking lot at 800 Central Park Ave. when he was approached by three teen aged black males wearing hooded sweatshirts. These males threw the victim to the ground and began to punch and kick him and then took a video game, a cell phone, and $7.00 dollars from the victim. The males then fled the area and left in a tan colored vehicle. The Detective Division is investigating this incident and anyone with information can contact the Detective Division at 377-7724.
On 9/14/10, at approximately 0734 hrs, a 1st Pct. marked Radio Car was involved in a motor vehicle accident with another vehicle on Fort Hill Road. The Officer was driving eastbound on Fort Hill Road when a vehicle driven by a 46 year old Yonkers resident drove into the roadway from a driveway and struck the Radio Car’s passenger side. The Officer suffered neck and back pain and he was transported to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the other vehicle was arrested for driving with a suspended license. No further information is available at this time.
