Yonkers, NY, September 3, 2010 — On 09-02-10 at approximately 9:47 p.m., numerous 4th Precinct units responded to the area of Main Street and Riverdale Avenue on a report of a motor vehicle and pedestrian accident where the motorist left the scene. Responding units were also advised that a civilian vehicle had stopped the suspect vehicle on North Broadway. Responding officers went to 127 North Broadway, at which time they were advised by a civilian that he observed the suspect vehicle strike a child and flee the scene at a high rate of speed. Officers interviewed the suspect (later identified as Onecimo Flores) who was driving a 2005 Chevrolet van. Officers observed the suspect to display signs of intoxication. The suspect was placed under arrest for leaving the scene of an accident with physical injury and suspicion of DWI drugs/alcohol. Investigation revealed that the suspect also had no license to operate a motor vehicle.
The victim, an 8 year old boy from the Bronx, had sustained a fractured pelvis and a fractured clavicle bone, and was treated at a local hospital. The victim was ridding a bicycle with his father at the time he was struck.
Onecimo Flores, a 34 year old Hispanic male who reports residing at 276 Riverdale Avenue, was booked for Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Personal Injury, Operation of a Motor Vehicle Impaired by Drugs, and Unlicensed Operator.
On 09-03-10 at approximately 10:41 p.m., Housing Unit Police Officers Sean Drain, Steven Cutter, and William Cave were on patrol in plainclothes in the vicinity of Cottage Place Gardens due to numerous drug complaints. The officers conducted an observation in the area. They observed a suspect (later identified as Andre D. Jones) purchase crack cocaine off of another male. Suspect Jones entered a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser and subsequently parked the vehicle on Ritters Lane. The officers approached the suspect Jones, at which time he dropped a bag to the ground. Officers recovered the bag which contained 6 grams of crack cocaine (approximate street value of $400). The other suspect involved in the sale was not located. Investigation revealed that suspect Jones was on Parole until 2011 and he has an extensive criminal history.
Andre D. Jones, a 45 year old black male who reports residing at 4 Ritters Lane, was booked for numerous counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
