Yonkers, NY, September 21, 2010 — City of Yonkers Police Department will participate in the United States Drug Enforcement Administration’s “Take Back” initiative on Saturday September 25, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. at all four Yonkers Police Precincts.  This initiative seeks to prevent increased pill abuse and theft.  Potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs will be collected at the four Precincts.  Collection bins accessible to the public will be located in each precinct.  This free service is anonymous with no questions asked.  Participants can respond to the following four Precinct locations in Yonkers to drop off prescription drugs:

  1. 1st Precinct – 730 East Grassy Sprain Road.  Phone: (914) 377-7477
  2. 2nd Precinct – 441 Central Park Avenue.  Phone: (914) 377-7452
  3. 3rd Precinct – 435 Riverdale Avenue.  Phone: (914) 377-7427
  4. 4th Precinct – 53 Shonnard Place.  Phone: (914) 377-7402

Rates of prescription drug abuse in the United States are increasing at alarming rates, as are accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.  Because of this, all residents are urged to participate in this program and properly dispose of any unused medicine that is not needed at any of the above collection sites.
