Yonkers, NY — As in years past, Santa Claus will make an appearance this Sunday, December 5th at Social at Dunwoodie at Dunwoodie Golf Club in Yonkers as “Operation Santa Claus” hosts it annual fundraising benefit for developmentally disabled children.
“Of all the different holiday events taking place in our community, this one is my favorite,” said Operation Santa Claus’ Honorary Chairman, former State Senator Nick Spano. “For more than 30 years, Operation Santa Claus has focused its energy on raising needed funding for those developmentally disabled children who live and attend schools in our community. Through the generosity of our residents, local businesses, civic group and other organizations, we have successfully raised tens and thousands of dollars to guarantee those children have the special adaptive equipment and other apparatus critical to their daily needs, and we expect this year will be no different.”
Operation Santa Claus is a charitable bi-partisan organization made up of public officials, local merchants, civic groups and residents whose mission is to raise money for special adaptive equipment for our children not only during the holiday but throughout the year. Every dollar raised goes to providing this much needed equipment.
Among those expected to attend this year’s holiday gathering are Assemblyman Mike Spano, Ken Jenkins, Chairman of the Westchester County Board of Legislators, Yonkers City Council members, Union Leaders and many community leaders.
“The holidays are a time of giving and I can think of no greater cause than Operation Santa Claus. This season, we are asking the generous people of our community to come out once again and open their hearts to these deserving children,” Spano concluded.
The Operation Santa Claus fundraising event will be held Sunday December 5th, at Social at Dunwoodie at Dunwoodie Golf Club, 1 Wasylenko Lane in Yonkers, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
