On Saturday, February 26, 2011, 1:00 pm, at JC Fogarty’s Restaurant in Bronxville, New York, the Yonkers Police Benevolent Association (PBA) will be hosting a fundraiser for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. St. Baldrick’s is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.
To date 50 volunteers, comprised mostly of Yonkers Police Officers, have joined our team and will have their heads shaved on Feb. 26. St. Baldrick’s shavees shave their head in solidarity with kids fighting cancer while raising money from friends and family. Our fundraising efforts will raise much-needed research support and our bald heads will be a display of solidarity with kids who have cancer, most of whom don't get to choose how to style their hair today.
Our honoree for this great cause is our good friend 8 year old Jake Quinn of Yorktown, NY. This past summer Jake was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Since then, he has been receiving chemotherapy treatment at the Westchester County Medical Center.
So far the Yonkers PBA has raised more than $29,000 through our fundraising efforts. To volunteer or to donate you can go visit our web page at;
