Carlos Gonzalez, The Albany Correspondent, for The Westchester Guardian / Yonkers Tribune on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, reported: Breaking News: Albany Correspondent – Another Corruption Charge for Another Senate Democrat By Carlos Gonzalez.

The Westchester Guardian / Yonkers Tribune where on top of the story before it even began to unravel. And unravel it did.

It was a repeat performance for “Real Estate Developer No. 1,” better known to most in Yonkers as Forest City Ratner (FCR). Forest City Ratner is the developer behind the Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn, New York, the Ridge Hill Development project in Yonkers, New York, and the Echo Bay project in New Rochelle, New York

This is the second time in less than two years that Forest City Ratner has been a protagonist in a corruption case. Similar to the relationship between a “john" and a “prostitute," FCR has not been charged; escaping further scrutiny as is so often the case with a “john.”.

The corruption charges accusing Carl Kruger, a Brooklyn Democrat, alleges he was the recipient of over $1 million in bribes in exchange for influencing state matters. Mr Kruger is also said to have received money from Forest City Ratner’s Bruce R. Bender, vice-president of governmental affairs and public relations,” and FCR’s  lobbyist Richard Lipsky, among other clients.

FCR spokesman Joe DePlasco divulged Forest City Ratner had ended its relationship with Mr. Lipsky, the lobbyist,  on Wednesday, March 9, 2011,when word of the case was being revealed The Westchester Guardian / Yonkers Tribune’s Carlos Gonzalez, among a few others, because of the “serious nature of the charges.”

Mr DePlasco did not explain how Forest City Ratner was privy to the unsealed corruption case one day prior to its being made public by United States Attorney, Southern District of New York. Preet Bharara’s announcement on Thursday, March 10, 2011.

“I find it sad that politicians are expendable, but rich developers are not,” said Candace Carponter, the legal director of the group Develop Don’t Destroy Brooklyn (DDDB) who have challenged FCR in  the courts over the Atlantic Yards project.

Ms Carponter suggests the Kruger case evokes similarities to the Ridge Hill project in Yonkers, New York where one-time Yonkers City Councilwoman Sandy Annabi, long opposed to the project changed her vote in which final approval to begin the project came to pass. Ms Annabi was indicted for retreating from her opposition to that project and one other. Ms Annabi is scheduled to appear before the court on June 20, 2011.

It seems Forest City Ratner president Bruce ratner IS the new “Godfather.”

At issue now is whether the Godfather is the" whore" or the "john." Either way, they are using/spending taxpayer money, your money.

  1. And speaking of Teflon, the useless trolls in the DA’s office cut a political deal to let Soto off the hook. He plead to a misdemeanor and gets to keep his law license. Yet another travesty brought to you by the DA:
    Former Yonkers
    councilman pleads
    guilty to voting
    fraud

YONKERS — Former City Councilman Wilson
Soto pleaded guilty today to falsifying a
ballot during the Sept. 15, 2009 primary
    election.
Soto, 44, of 8 Huron Rd. pleaded guilty to
filing a false affidavit, a misdemeanor.
Soto admitted to Judge Michael Martinelli
that he wrote a false home address of 279
    S. Broadway when filling out an affidavit
ballot at the Renee Burke Senior Housing
    Center at 15 Hamilton Ave.
Soto served on the City Council as a
    Republican representing the Second District
for six months in 2001 when he replaced
    former Councilwoman Lorraine Lopez.
He worked with County Legislator Jose
Alvarado, D-Yonkers, in 2009 when he
    illegally voted in Alvarado’s district.
After the court appearance Soto declined to
comment about his plea deal, which
reduced his charge from a felony.
Soto said that he will not lose his law
    license because of the plea.
    The Westchester County District Attorney’s
Office said that Soto faces three years on
probation. He must agree not to run for
public office and to refrain from working on
campaigns, contributing time or money to
any campaigns or fund-raising for any
    candidates, among other promises.
His next court appearance is for
    sentencing, scheduled for July 13.

  2. Also remember that Rich Martinelli was the biggest cheerleader for Ridge Hill and Ratner from Day One.
As City Council President, he maneuvered the controversial vote that approved Ridge Hill, only to see it thrown out in court because it was an illegal vote.

  3. Let’s all not forget Chuck, who swore to all concerned that he wouldn’t vote on the project until the taxes and traffic would be fixed, and then voted for it anyway. Is he being investigated, if not he should be?

  4. Remember, that Fill Amicone and co. gave a BILLION, yes one billion dollars worth of land and leases to RATNER. Let’s see if our inspector clouseau’s will investigate this, on the state and federal level.
