White Plains, NY, March 18, 2011 — Calling Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino’s recent email to supporters on his “Taxpayer Watch” website about the CSEA lawsuit against the County completely wrong and disingenuous, today, Westchester County Board Majority Leader Peter Harckham (D-Katonah) criticized County Executive Rob Astorino and demanded an apology for interjecting cheap political tactics by saying outright falsehoods using scare tactics on taxpayers.

During an impassioned speech on the floor of the Legislature during Monday’s business meeting, Majority Leader Harckham said Mr. Astorino was totally misrepresenting the Legislature's role in this lawsuit and playing petty political games. “For him to say that we are suing him or have joined CSEA in this lawsuit is flat out wrong.” Harckham said that “the people of Westchester have a right to expect that their County Executive will be an honest broker of information. In this regard, he utterly failed the public and has bankrupted the notion of public trust.”
