Crotty_Joe Annual Bronx River Clean Up Cited as Yonkersites Civic Commitment and Environmental Awareness

YONKERS, NYJoe Crotty, candidate for Yonkers’ 5th Council District joined his fellow neighbors of The Garrett Park Neighborhood Association (GPNA) in receiving a Greenie Award from the City of Yonkers’ Green Policy Task Force (GPTF).  The award was given in recognition of the GPNA’s annual Bronx River clean up.

“This award is a testament to my tremendous neighbors who believe that we must work hard to ensure that future generations can enjoy the very best of Yonkers. I plan on continuing to work with my neighbors to keep Yonkers beautiful for our children”, Mr. Crotty said.

The “Greenies” are a mock Oscar green tie/green carpet event that honors those in Yonkers who make an effort to preserve the environment and increase awareness of environmental issues.  The third annual event was held at the Beczak Environmental Education Center in Yonkers.

“Communities across Yonkers all want the same thing: a strong quality of life.  I’m glad to be a small part of the team that was able to help our residents continue to enjoy the natural beauty found right here in East Yonkers” Crotty said.
