JOHNSON_Chris YONKERS, NY — One day after winning the Democratic Primary for Yonkers City Council in the First District, Christopher Johnson picked up the endorsement of the Westchester Putnam Central Labor Body at their September delegate meeting.   The Westchester Putnam Central Labor Body represents thousands of working men and women throughout the region, many specifically located in Yonkers’ First District.

“This endorsement is a true testament to what our campaign has been about; including everyone in the processes of government and standing together to accomplish the goals that we set,” said Christopher Johnson.  “Working men and women are the backbone of a thriving community and those members of the WPCLB have been a leading voice in our City.  I am excited to take the concerns that they voice and work with them to make a living wage law a permanent reality and creating jobs through smart development in downtown Yonkers.”

“For the past several years I have seen first hand the work that Christopher does on behalf of the people,” said Florence McCue, a Vice President at the WPCLB.  “Every time I work with him, I am impressed by his knowledge of how government works and by his ability to capture the needs of many people at the same time.  He fights for what families believe in.  Christopher’s experience will definitely allow him to represent not only his constituents in the First District but all segments of the Yonkers community of stakeholders. We at the WPCLB look forward to standing with Christopher as a friend and a partner of working families in Yonkers.”

The endorsement vote took place on September 14th, and requires two-thirds of the present delegates to vote in the affirmative for endorsement.
