CAMPAIGNTRAIL-Dems-Repubs-usa_valasztas_grafikaYONKERS, NY — January 10, 2012 – Goveror Andrew Cuomo yesterday issued a proclamation call for a Special Election to fill five vacant legislative seats. Four of those seats are for the New York State Assembly and one is for the New York State Senate. The date has been set for March 20, 2012, which coincides with village elections.

Assemblyman Mike Spano, stepped down from his post upon acceding to the Office of Mayor of the City of Yonkers. He served the 93rd Assembly District. Vying to succeed the departed Assemblyman Spano is Shelley Mayer who is known to have already thrown a fundraiser toward that end in mid-December. The Yonkers Republican City Committee, under the aegis of Chairman John Jacono, are likely to soon announce their candidate. Time is short. The Certificate of Nomination must be presented by January 19, 2012.

  1. We understand that Liam McLaughlin is trying AGAIN to get elected to SOMETHING. I think the comments that Newt made to Romney are apt here about him running forever. I think its time for Liam to retire….
