YONKERS, NY – January 9, 2012 – As we begin 2012, I am happy to return to work after an extended absence following shoulder surgery, and I want to thank the many friends who sent warm wishes for my recovery. I have enclosed the announcement for this month's Community Council Meeting, which will be held on January 18, at 7:00 PM at the Yonkers YMCA, 17 Riverdale Ave. Please help spread the word.
I would also like to take this opportunity to announce that after three wonderful years, I will be leaving the Fourth Precinct this week. Our new Police Commissioner, Charles Gardner, has asked me to serve as a Deputy Chief, and I will begin that assignment on Wednesday, overseeing the Field Services Bureau. In that capacity I will have responsibility for all four Precincts, and all uniformed patrol operations citywide. I look forward to this challenge, and hope to remain involved with all of you as I attempt to forge on a larger scale the cooperation and progress that we have made here.
Also effective Wednesday, Capt. John Mueller will take command of the Fourth Precinct. John is an extremely bright, capable, and highly energetic man, who grew up in the Fourth Precinct and still has family that live here. He will serve the community well, and I ask that you please welcome him in the same congenial spirit that made me feel so comfortable in my time here.
Finally, I want to thank everybody for the outpouring of cooperation, support, and friendship that I have enjoyed since I have been assigned to the Fourth Precinct. Together we have worked hard to make this community safer, stronger, and better. I appreciate everybody's efforts toward that end, and will always relish my time working here.
Thank you and may God Bless You and always keep you safe.
Capt. Francis P. Intervallo is presently Commanding Officer of the Fourth Precinct.
