YONKERS, NY — Yonkers City Clerk Joan Deielein was reported on February 22, 2012, to be stepping down, but she claimed she would not. Today, April 4, 2012, she officially announced she would do so in June 2012. Her long expected announcement was anticlimactic considering all the candidates that have been placed as contenders for the post of City Clerk.
It is only logical that Yonkers Clerk Vincent Spano, the lone clerk, after Ms Deierlein's departure, and the only one with the experience that can afford the city professional continuity and knowledge of the office should acceded to Yonkers City Clerk. Joan Deierlein is a registered Republican, Barbara Flatley, has been ill for a few years. Ms Flately is a registered Democrat and will not return to her post, suffering from a medical issue.
Names are being mentioned, and proponents are coming out of the woodworks in support of Jose Alvarado, a former Westchester County Board Legislator who recently earned a position under Mayor Spano's Administration in the Office of Constituent Services. He is a political hack who is adept at not earning his pay. Mr Alvarado believes the city clerk position is a part-time responsibility.
Bob Stauf, a one-time Yonkers City Councilman, overlooked and dismissed for years is being considered. He is incapable of managing the responsibilities the city clerk requires. He has been passed over for years. Why would he be looked upon now as worthy of consideration. Political guilt payoff? He knows the "blarney" but has difficulty with the truth. Shame.
Symra Brandon, former Yonkers City Councilwoman and present Yonkers City Democratic Chair, and aide to Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins is conflicted on ethical grounds for years and would create a Maginot Line for Westchester County Chair Ken Jenkins, Sen. Stewart-Cousins, among others for whom she covers up, specifically for Yonkers City Councilwoman Patricia McDow who has been outed a thief by Yonkers Tribune for her theft of services for which she has been fined but has not paid, among so many other issues for which she has not served the public good.
Rocky Richard, Yonkers City Council President Chief of Staff, would like the job, may be qualified, but has pissed off too many political figures in the Democratic party to be considered for any job.
Yonkers Tribune has heard that Justin Tubiolo's son David Tubiolo, is in contention for support for the city clerk position. Another payoff to a political hack's scion. So is former Yonkers City Councilwoman Dee Barbato
A pathetic contingent of wannabees if there ever was one. Another shame Yonekrs must suffer to satisfy the hue of corruption and the graffiti that politics has painted and infused into the perception outsiders have of a great city that can not fight the games played within her borders.
It's time to wake up and do the right thing.
