Spano_MikeOutdoorYONKERS, NY – April 25, 2012 – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano has today called for submissions to fill an upcoming vacancy with regard to the Yonkers Board of Education Board of Trustees.  Mayor Spano asks interested applicants to apply online at www.yonkersny.gov where the Education Redesign Team (ERT) will serve as a blue ribbon panel and review all submissions. As promised before he took office, Mayor Spano convened the ERT to review and recommend innovative reforms to the Yonkers Public School system.

“I encourage qualified and committed Yonkers residents to apply for the new vacancy with our Board of Education,” said Mayor Spano. “The Board of Ed is possibly the most important board in the City as it serves our schools, striving to provide the best in quality education for our children.”

Once the Education Redesign Team reviews all applicants, the team will provide its recommendation to Mayor Spano, who will then appoint the new board member. The Board of Education vacancy comes as Boaerd od Education Vice President Trustee Reverend Gerald (Yaroslav) Sudick leaves his position at the end of April.

  1. Gee I’ve always wanted to be on a board in the middle of a political cesspool
I’ll send my resume post haste.
    Nothing Changes in Yonkers

  2. Why not ask Chuck Lesnick…he would do the city a favor by stepping down from city council and step up to bring more confusion to the b.o.e. Lesnick is utterly useless in his current position. The more he speaks the more lost he really is. Being a senior council member, you look more lost than even the newest council members. Sad days in YO are still ahead. Yippee…………

  3. How about brother Nicky or even pal and confidant Zehy jereis. If neither will fly maybe fellow dem Sandy Annabi.
Then again there might be luminaries such as Elaine Tsu or Anthony Manzo or Kieth Olsen. Wait … how bout Liam McLaughlin, Bob Ferrito, Steve Macri or some other good ole boy.
Only kidding, watch for Mikey to appoint some ultra liberal that will keep Cuomo, Andy Spano and Shelly Silver happy.
The Spanos have come a long way from being conservative republicans concerned about the three Rs. Good luck Yonkers.
