Spano_nick22WHITE PLAINS, NY and YONKERS, NY — U.S. District Judge Cathy Seibel will be besieged by former Nick Spano’s legal counsel, Richard Levitt and Kerry Lawrence, as well as letters written by relatives, colleagues, and friends beseeching the leniency of the court by suggesting Mr Spano receive a maximum of 6 months' imprisonment and an additional 6 months’ home confinement. Federal guidelines call for a sentence of between 12 to 18 months.

It was on February 10, 2012, that Mr Spano pleaded guilty to a charge of $53,000 in income taxes that he claims were an error and oversight that took place over an eight-year period beginning with the year 2000. Other charges were ignored and remained unacknowledged.

Those who have pleaded for leniency on behalf of the former New York State Senator include former Yonkers Mayor John Spencer, former New York State Assemblyman Louis Mosiello, former Elmsford Mayor Robert Williams, and a letter from his younger brother, the present Yonkers Mayor, Mike Spano.

Nick Spano is scheduled to appear before Judge Seibel on June 18, 2012.

  1. I’m sure if mike had anything to hide 1- he wouldn’t have ran for mayor 2- the prosecution wouldnt have had him testify. 3- he would have been charged during the case. Stop being a hater and let the mayor do his job, has he will do for the next 3 yrs……. if not 7.

  2. 6 Months isn’t long enough. At least if it’s 18 months odds are at some point him and Mikey can be roommates. That would be nice!

  3. What are the chances that Nick’s sister in law does any reporting on this, during her morning broadcast on Channel 2, asking for leniency? Slim and None?

  4. 6 years would be a better result He spent years being cruel and selfish and thugish. He and his fellow criminals should go away for a long time

  5. 2 million dollar investigation for 53,000 in unpaid taxes? No wonder our country is in the state it is. If his name was anything but nick Spano he would have been audited and fined.

  6. Really 53000 over 8 years this was clearly a waste of time by the justice department. How much did this investigation cost?

  7. What a joke. DO THE CRIME, DO THE TIME.
What makes Nick so special that he should get leniency? And shame on Mike for writing a letter on his behalf when he’s taken a position in the city to fire anybody and everybody for misconduct.
    He should get the maximum

  8. The only reason Mouse aka as the invisable man Mosiello wrote a letter is Nicky gave him a no show job. What a disgrace.

  9. Let’s all say it together. NICK SPANO THE CONVICTED FELON !!!!! And his little brother Mikey the Mayor writes a letter looking for leniency. Way to show the kids of Yonkers that even though your brother is a bad man that he shouldn’t go to Jail. Remarkable.
