Latimer_george-facing right Yonkers PBAYONKERS, NY — July 22, 2012 — The Yonkers PBA is proud and excited to announce that on Wednesday, July 25, 12:30pm, in front of Yonkers Police Headquarters at 104 South Broadway, we will be enthusiastically offering our endorsement to Assemblyman George Latimer in his bid for New York State Senate in the 37th District. The Yonkers PBA is comprised of nearly 500 members that serve the 200,000 Yonkers residents.

Detective Keith Olson, President of the Yonkers PBA explained the endorsement, “George understands the people of the community that he is campaigning to represent and has shown over a long period of time that he knows how to advocate for what they need.  Not just because of his time in elected office but also because he truly is one of us; a working class man who grew up in Mt. Vernon and knows the challenges that face a large city like Yonkers.  For many years, George has been an intricate part of cleaning up the streets here in Westchester and as a Senator he will continue his commitment to improving the quality of life throughout our City.  George does not blame government budgetary problems on those who provide services for taxpayers.  He has a long history of truly being on our side, every day.  Because it is clear that George truly understands us, the men and women of the Yonkers PBA enthusiastically endorse George Latimer for the New York State Senate.”

“The men and women that protect and defend the streets of Yonkers see the troubles that exist in the City every day.  They are the ones that understand what has to get done and know how to do it from the ground up.  Without the work that they do, our children and families would not be able to enjoy the Yonkers community in the way that is truly possible,” stated Assemblyman George Latimer (D-Rye).  “As a government official, it is my responsibility to do the most that I can to protect the members of every police department so that they can in turn continue to serve our community.  In Yonkers, it is clear that the Police Department has made great strides in cleaning up the streets but there is still more to be done.  I look forward to being a partner with Yonkers’ finest, the members of its PBA.”

  1. One of the options a arbitrator will consider is the municipalities ability to pay. If the ability to pay is not there then it is wise for the PBA not to go to BINDING arbitration. Remember that during this process the ENTIRE contract is on the table and open to be amended. It is not only about salary. Everything is on table in binding arbitration. Whatever the arbitrator says; GOES. Jeff Meyer St. Pete/Tuckahoe, NY

  2. Keith has a tough job where he cant work O.T.. he is not compensated well and he does not get to spend quality time with his family. how about you try being him. What no one has anything to say….. i thought so…..

  3. Why doesnt the PBA take the city to arbitration? Police agencys all around Yonkers are getting salary raises, yet YPD hasnt had a contract in 3 years, yet the city still spends money on everything else. Why is Keith afraid of doing this? Doesnt want to upset the mayor?

  4. Phalen was NEVER,I repeat NEVER
a cop. He slinked around the 1st pct.
until he got promoted, another five year
wonder. He sucked even more as a boss.

  5. Explain yukus…..as for K.O. You must not be on same job or this planet if you have to explain what did we give up. What happened to the vote we were supposed to take !!! I don’t care that the CLSA are a bunch of assholes for getting it stuck up their asshole By Phelan and The boys.. Ever get your money back boys !! And were does it say that The President gets the entire Summer Off …. Maybe you should Goto Yonkers .gov and look under job postings and see what little Mikey Boy has I’n store for us. Maybe K.O. should be looking into that and every other fucking problem we have. Just talking The facts sorry if you don’t want to here it and as for me running ” I didn’t ask Keith to run if he don’t want to do the job no more than step down. Don’t forget part of my dues pays his salary and his Summer Vacation .. Xoxoxo

  6. What did you give up so far? If I recall the PBA was the only union not to give back. Ask the CLSA. I’d say keith is doing his job, he doesn’t deserve a vacation? No give backs/ and new hires. Keep driving around and bitching. You think you can do better? Run against him. Oh wait….. Then u would have to put your name.
