The Washington Post advises "President Obama will deliver remarks on the 'fiscal cliff' talks Monday at 1:30 p.m. E.T., as negotiators for the administration and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) appeared to have nailed down many of the most critical tax issues, including a plan to let taxes rise on income over $450,000 a year for couples and $400,000 a year for individuals, according to people in both parties familiar with the talks."

  1. Solve the problem?
    You’re kidding, right?
Your suggestions are counterproductive and are penalizing the “producers” of our society!
Hey Edelman, it’s easy for you to engage in class warfare like your Alinsky fellow. So, do you know the lawyer who has filed the $100MM lawsuit against the Newtown school district? Must be a friend of yours. Only a parasite lawyer who had his license revoked once and was reprimanded by the bar and who represents Occupy Wall Street would file such a spurious lawsuit. Let’s not identify the real culprit in this massacre.
As for social security, we all know it’s a Ponzi scheme. That being said, if I am being taxed for it, I should be allowed to get a return on my confiscation (age and income aside.)
Here is a quick lesson in economics for you. I never got a job working for a poor person. I do not begrudge someone for being rich, nor do I wish to see that person punished with a progressive tax for his or her own success. An across the board flat tax is the only logical, equitable solution for the tax code. Quite frankly, I am sick and tired of being part of the 53% of producers whose earnings are being confiscated to support the 47% who sit on their lazy asses and pay no federal income tax. France, here we come……
We all benefit from a military and from the limited services that the federal government is constitutionally allowed to provide. Unemployment, welfare, section 8, earned income tax credits, illegal aliens using a TIN to file a tax return to obtain the earned income tax credit, etc. It’s all about Cloward-Piven coming to fruition.
It is time to go Galt!

  2. you want to really solve the problem or just throw jabs at the president:
    1. let the bush tax cuts expire on everyone making over
2.means test social security and medicare raising the
age of eligibility by 2 years over the next 20
and limiting the amount of each that those who have
unearned income in excess of 400,000 a year get gradually losing all of it the higher up in income you go
3.cap deductions on everything except charitable and medical
    4. limit second home mortgage deductions to 50% of primary residence
    5. increase the tax on dividends and capiital gains to 20%
    6. cut defense spending by 10%
    7. penalize US corporations and individuals that don’t pay taxes by using offshore accounts but lower corporate tax rates
    8. reform the tax code to close loopholes that allow
people to avoid paying taxes like carried interest

  3. You mean the “purposeful ruination of our economy and fiat money system” don’t you Mr. Illegal Alien President?
    This is all by design.
