GREENBURGH, NY and YONKERS, NY – August 15, 2013 — “The state broke an Early Intervention system that was working for special needs kids,” said Assemblyman Tom Abinanti. “The state’s implementation of its new plan for Early Intervention is a fiasco.”

Assemblyman Abinanti is calling for “heads to roll” in the New York State Health Department as a result of its botched implementation of the department’s new plan for administering the state’s Early Intervention program.

“The state is burying providers in an avalanche of red tape and paper work – forcing many small businesses to close and causing speech, occupational and physical therapists to abandon Early Intervention services,” said Abinanti. “The state is hurting defenseless babies and toddlers and blaming everyone but themselves.”
