NY
 – Westchester County Working Families Party leaders announced their
endorsement of New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson for Westchester County Executive
on Friday, August 2, 2013. The Working Families Party endorsement will garner
Bramson support from the party’s formidable activist base, as well as the WFP
line on the November ballot.

“As Mayor of New Rochelle, Noam has shown a deep
commitment to the issues that the Working Families Party fights for:
transparent government, affordable housing, and creating green jobs,” said Pat
Welsh, Westchester WFP Chair.  “He will make an excellent County Executive
for working and middle class families in Westchester County.”

The Working
Families Party is New York’s self-proclaimed grassroots progressive political
party. In New York City, the WFP recently won a three-year long campaign for
paid sick days; the City Council has passed a bill that will guarantee paid
sick days to an estimated one million New Yorkers. In Albany, WFP has won
increases in the minimum wage, a landmark green jobs program, and reforms to
the state’s Rockefeller drug laws.

More than 10,000 voters voted on the
Working Families Party line in Westchester County in 2012.

The Working
Families Party is an independent, progressive party that fights for every day
New Yorkers. WFP evaluates the records of all the candidates and supports only
those who stand up for working-class and middle-class families on issues like
good jobs, affordable healthcare, fair taxes and quality schools.

  1. The problem with banning all cross endorsements is that one does not always know on which lines one will appear. For instance John Larkin threw his opponent Jasan Hungreder off the Democratic ballot because he was afraid to actually have a campaign and put his record of obstruction before the voters. Thankfully Hungreder will appear on the WFP line so the voters will have a choice. in the 2nd district there is no Republican and Corazon Pineda is challenging Wilson Terrero for the Democratic line (the party took no position because Terrero usually votes with the Republicans on party line votes). Both will compete for the Democratic line but Pineda will be on the WFP and Terrero on the IND line in November so once again the voters will have a choice in November.
