YONKERS, NY — February 12, 2014 — On Wednesday, February 19th, 5:30-7:30PM at Saint Joseph's Medical Center (cafeteria) 127 South Broadway, Yonkers, NY 10701, Senate Democratic Conference Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins, Assemblymembers J. Gary Pretlow and Shelley Mayer will be convening a “New York State Budget Town Hall” regarding the 2014-15 New York State Budget. Yonkers residents, community members, representatives of organizations, and elected officials of Yonkers are invited to testify about their concerns and priorities regarding the impact of the Governor’s proposed budget.
“The State budget represents the priorities of New Yorkers, so it’s important to give members of the community an opportunity to weigh in. As we work to help our schools, grow the economy, create jobs and make the community safer, we continue to have our ears to the ground so that we can address the concerns of our constituents,” said Democratic Conference Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins.
Assemblyman Pretlow noted, “I am pleased to provide residents an opportunity to express their priorities concerning the New York State Budget. It is one of the best ways we can advocate for them and their concerns.”
Assemblymember Mayer explained, “When we hear directly from residents about their priorities and concerns, we more fully understand the potential impacts of the budget on our districts. Assemblyman Pretlow and I are thankful to St. Joseph’s Medical Center for providing us and the community this opportunity.”
Each speaker will have up to four (4) minutes to speak. If desired, written testimony can be submitted ahead of time or after the event to email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org or MayerS@assembly.state.ny.us. No RSVP is required.
Refreshments will be provided.
