Today, on the heels of the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Civil Rights Act, we come together as Americans in celebration of our nation’s independence and freedom. We celebrate our rich history and diverse landscape that is truly the greatest strength of our country and city.
We also recognize the sacrifices made by those before us who gave of themselves to provide for and protect the freedoms we enjoy today. We are forever thankful for their service and for those of our armed forces currently serving at home and abroad.
I could not be more proud to serve as Mayor of such a great American city like Yonkers. A city that is now the fastest growing in the state outside of New York City, among the safest of its size in the nation, with some of the nation’s best schools, a distinguished history and a bright future ahead.
Today is a proud day to be an American and to be part of the great City of Yonkers. I wish you all a happy and safe Independence Day.
