Santa’s Grand Arrival, Holiday Concerts and a DJ, Strolling Characters, Tree and Menorah Lightings, Shopping and More Highlighted
YONKERS, NY — November 15, 2014 — Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers invites local families and visitors from the region to experience the holidays in a magical setting. Starting Saturday, November 15, with a wide array of events and attractions scheduled through Christmas Eve, there is something for everyone to enjoy, including Santa arriving during an entire show themed around the popular Walt Disney Animation Frozen.
“The holidays are such a festive time of year that we just can’t keep the excitement to ourselves. We love to share this season with our shoppers and that includes tons of exciting things to do while shopping for amazing holiday deals,” said Liz Pollack, Senior Marketing Manager, Cross County Shopping Center. “We are providing extended hours, as well as free parking at the mall. Plus, our Mobile App makes each shopping experience easy and convenient with a store finder, listing of sales and details on events.”
The following highlights the holiday events being featured at the mall:
Santa Arrives at Cross County Shopping Center
From the North Pole to the City of Yonkers, Santa will make his grand entrance at the Cross County Shopping Center on Saturday, November 15 at 12:00 p.m. Saint Nicholas himself will appear during an interactive show with characters from the movie Frozen. After his arrival, children will be able to meet-and-greet with Anna, Elsa, Olaf and more, then visit Santa to share wishes and take photos. Kids can also register to win a Frozen-themed gift (valued at $250) at the event. Families can visit with Santa from November 15 through December 24 from 11am to 8pm Monday through Saturday and from 12pm to 6pm on Sundays. In December Santa’s hours will be extended even more. Santa will be at Cross County until 5pm on Christmas Eve.
Light the Night with Holiday Cheer
As part of its annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony on Saturday, November 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Cross County Shopping Center will provide a captivating night light show with music and Santa’s Christmas tree for all to enjoy. The event will include a concert by the New York City Swing Band; strolling characters; children’s activities including a pixie stick station, face painting and balloons; and the first 100 shoppers to visit the Cross County booth, located between Victoria’s Secret and Gap will receive a voucher to pick up a FREE, live Christmas tree the following weekend on 11/29.
Let the Shopping Begin
Shoppers can get a kick start on Black Friday discounts on Friday, November 28 this year with Macy’s opening at 6:00p.m., Sears opening at 7:00 p.m. and the remainder of the mall stores opening at midnight on Thursday, November 27th. While they wait on line to go into their favorite retailer, a DJ, strolling characters and a gift bag giveaway to the first 250 guests will keep everyone entertained.
Photos for Furry Friends
Dogs and cats can get in on the fun, too. Cross County Shopping Center will host Pet Photos with Santa on Monday, December 1; Monday, December 8; and Monday, December 15. Shoppers are invited to bring dogs and cats from 6pm to 8pm. Cats should be kept in a carrier and dogs on a leash until photo time.
A Chanukah Celebration
Cross County Shopping Center is partnering with the Chabad of Yonkers to host a festive menorah lighting on December 18th at 6pm. The event will include a live musical concert with cultural dancing, treats and activities for children.
