NYS Association of School Business Officials Rates George an “A”
ALBANY, NY — October 21 201 — Based on his voting record and the bills he has introduced, State Senator George Latimer (D-Westchester) received a grade of “A” on the 2015 Annual Report Card released yesterday by the NYS Association of School Business Officials.
“I believe that education is the cornerstone of success in our society, and I am honored that my commitment to our children has received this recognition”, Senator Latimer said.
The Association’s membership includes school business officials and staff from school districts and BOCES around the state. The annual rating system for state legislators takes into consideration each senator’s and assemblymember’s record on bills the association identifies as priorities.
Among the bills for which Latimer received high marks include his support for increased education aid and the repeal of the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA); supporting amendments to fix the convoluted property tax cap, and several other issues addressing children with special needs, transportation and short and long term planning.
“Many of the bills that I voted for, that the Association sees as priorities, passed the Senate, and a good number passed both houses. It is rewarding to see that educating our children is a priority of the entire legislature,” Latimer added.
