Rev. Steve Lopez, Yonkers Board of Education Trustee President.

YONKERS, NY — May 28, 2017 — Yonkers Tribune had through a third party today learned that email notice sent on behalf of Yonkers Board of Education (YBoE) Trustee President Rev. Steve Lopez gave notice that the President of the Board of Education has called a Special Meeting to be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017th @ 5pm over the FY2017-2018 Proposed Budget to be conducted at the YBoE, One Larkin Center, Board Conference Room, 4th Floor, Yonkers, New York 10701.

The Yonkers Tribune was not given official notice of this Special Meeting.

Media notified were: The Journal News and Rising Media Group; NOT the Yonkers Tribune. Also cable news outlet: News 12 WestchesterWFAS-1230AM radio has for almost 2-years operated a sports talk show. Westchester On the Level, an Internet-based BlogTalkRadio platform broadcast hosted by Yonkers Tribune Editor-at-Large Hezi Aris heard “live”, as well as “on demand” is also never notified.

Copies of the notice were also directed to:

* Yonkers Board of Education
* Edwin Quezada(1), Interim Superintendent of Schools… See NOTE (1) BELOW…

NOTE(1): Dr. Quezada is Superintendent of Yonkers Public Schools since last year. Does anyone even bother to read the stationery upon which presumed information is given notice, though not divulged to the public. Perhaps the Communication department needs to take a course on how to update outdated information to maintain its relevance, as noted with respect to WFAS, and also revise the designation and responsibilities of his office, that is that Dr. Edwin Quezada is Superintendent of the Yonkers Public School District.

Special thanks to those who have advised us so that we may advise the City of Yonkers what will be discussed and relevant to the public interest because it impacts all taxpaying Yonkersites financially. ~~ Kindly, Hezi Aris

The Hezitorial Takeaway

Charicature of a younger, better looking Editor-at-Large / Radio Host Hezi Aris.

One must wonder if the intent of these meetings is to dissuade parents and guardians from being notified. There is no notice of these events in any of the media notified. Then again, they are not individually or collectively required to make notice over issues that are likely to impact the taxpayer, employees, and the student population. It is evident the public has been dismissed by this lack of outreach culture, demeanor, standard, and protocol. The assertion heard that disparages parents and guardians of students of all ages is that parents and guardians are not interested and/or much less concerned about the schools is the biggest lie ever perpetrated to dismiss those who are concerned. Is it illogical to accept that parents and guardians of a total of 25,000 students are not interested? Even if of the 25,000 student population the parents / guardians amount to only 15,000; some may have more that one child in the YPS, that those who believe the  disparaging conduct of parents / guardians are real, are deceiving themselves. Parents/guardians are very intereste in their children’s education. they are not invited to the table.

Should only 1 percent of parents/guardians attend such meetings, that would be 150 adults in attendance. Were it to be 2percent, 300 people would be in attendance. The Yonkers PTA mailing list consists of less than 40 names. Perhaps now Yonkersites will recognize they have been played and duped into accepting a totally fabricated lie. The Yonkers Board of Education must collect email addresses for every child’s parent / guardian every year during registration the registration process. Every adult has an email address or must get one. this is accomplished because at the very least every adult qualifies for a smart phone that is made available free of charge to those who are not able to afford a cell phone. there are no excuses for not having email contact. Email service providers are free from Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo, among others.

It is pragmatic and most appropriate for Yonkers City’s Hall to engage the citizenry in a credible and respectful manner. Those undermining outreach to every parent / guardian are undermining the education process and are even placing students in an unsafe predicament because their parent / guardian cannot be reached by email when required. At issue is why is this permitted?

It is not too late to infuse ethical standards respectful of all Yonkersites.
