YONKERS, NY — July 27, 2017 — In response to the dire situation of the New York City subway situation, County Legislator and candidate for County Executive Ken Jenkins issued the following statement:

Ken Jenkins candidate for Westchester County Executive.

“Funding for and management of the New York City subway system falls under the purview of the MTA, which reports not to the NYC mayor but to leaders in Albany. People in the entire Metro Region depend on the subway and are being shortchanged. We all know that Albany is better known for inaction than action, and this is just one more example of that. This is a place where, after all, there are more Democrats than Republicans but is led by Republicans. The fact is that New York–its people, its business, its operations–completely and absolutely relies on this system every day, and this inaction is taking a serious toll. It’s time to finally get to work, and get it done.”

  1. All politicians, especially ones like Ken with OPINIONS, on public transportation should be forced to use it to do their “jobs”. Then like McCain and health care they would think differently.

The problem with the Subway and the Railroads is that they are living in the 1950’s in terms of Management and labor and infrastructure. There are literally 10 of thousands employed by the MTA that don’t know what a days work is yet they are paid bloated salaries and bennies. That’s where the money goes.

The MTA need to move into the 20th century. The excuses are rife however the politicians if they appoint these “boards”, should move into the present day.

10 guys hanging around watching one guy paint at 12 midnight at a Metro North Stations (have photos to prove it) is where all the money goes. What a disgrace. Look around the system and you could literally save billions by getting rid of all the waste.

The system is unsustainable and will collapse. Look at the recent fare increases. Forced on Metro North and LIRR users while the subway riders pay no increase. Think elections. DeBlasholio is running in the fall and did not want to offend voters. How corrupt is that?
