The Hezitorial Telling to Which the Poster Herein Advises the Reality That Can No Longer Be Denied
YONKERS, NY — November 6, 2017 — This Hezitorial recalls President Abraham Lincoln’s recitation at The Gettysburg Address at which he said, “That government of The People, by The People, for The People, shall not perish from the earth.” Alas, Yonkers City Hall has contrived and succeeded in transforming lemonade into lemons as assuredly as the definition of “zenith” has been turned upside down and “nadir” is likewise falsely defined as “up”. Yonkersites have been fed a steady inedible gruel for so long that we have come to accept the slop as if it were caviar. Yonkersites have since the advent of a “strong mayor form of government” to get with the program or be robbed of every option in life said to be granted by the U.S. Constitution.
On Constitution Day, September 10, 2016, The United States Senate proclaimed: “The Constitution’s first three words—We the People—affirm that the government of the United States exists to serve its citizens. For over two centuries the Constitution has remained in force because its framers wisely separated and balanced governmental powers to safeguard the interests of majority rule and minority rights, of liberty and equality, and of the federal and state governments.”
Unabashedly Yonkers City Hall conducts the governance of the City of Yonkers to hold onto power by obfuscating transparency, undermining legal oversight by eviscerating its capacity, hiring a bevy of “insiders” to perpetuate a fiscally corrupt employment agency to serve the taskmasters who have trained those elected, designated, or hired to kowtow to directives or to find themselves on the outs. Even the freedom of expression has been expunged from the City of Hills. Yonkersites know they are suffering financial degradation, infrastructural decay, visions promised that evaporate into one failure and mirage after another, a rising tax burden, and increased costs of services. Concerns over security and safety by an understaffed Yonkers Police Department that is so corrupted by Yonkers City Hall that Yonkersites suggest it is not plausible. The opposite is true, it is real. No amount of shaking hands with a Yonkers Police Officer and a free Cup of Joe can mitigate the statistics undermined by false reporting and the downgrading of infractions validated by one perjurer after another.
The political divide is depicted as contrary to what you see is what you get. The poster above shows from left to right, Yonkers Department of Public Works and Water Commissioner and Yonkers City Democratic Committee Chairman Thomas Meier Sr. Standing next to him is Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, the longtime Republican who changed party affiliation to align himself with the changing voter demographics. He is now a DINO, a Democrat in Name Only, in the make believe world of Spano-land in which former New York State Senator, felon and present shakedown lobbyist in Yonkers runs the roost. Next to him is incumbent Yonkers City Council President Liam McLaughlin who has stayed true to his Republican Party affiliation. Steve Sansone, the on again, off again, sometime insider, sometime outsider, always kept off balance, suck-up who has been passed over so many times in every department he has been hired for, that he has tire tread marks on his back. And then there is Yonkers City Councilman Dennis Shepherd, who having served two terms in Office representing District 4 has been promised employment.
No other city in their right mind would accept these shenanigans from any other government. In Yonkers it is not only expected that all dogs heel, but demanded.
The cozy subterfuge and chummy, chummy relationship depicted in the poster is part of the “swamp” each above has had a hand in creating or enabling.
The Spano Clan rule the roost. It is as simple as that.
Yonkers City Council Majority Leader John Larkin – District 6 has also been promised employment. he is term limited.
After managing to drag Yonkers City Councilman Christopher Johnson out from under his failed campaign for Westchester County Legislator – District 16, The Spano Clan, with the help of Get Out The Vote aficionado Vincent Spano, the Yonkers City Clerk, Christopher Johnson forfeited his responsibility to Yonkers City Council – District 1. In so doing, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano will be able to appoint a replacement. The first choice was initially Shane Williams, Mayor Mike Spano’s Scheduler. Then a deal was struck with Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins’ Staffer Symra Brandon, then abandoned, and Ms. Williams is now again the chosen one. Do you recognize a pattern here? It is about the Spano’s and not about the public interest.
Incumbent Yonkers City Councilmember Corazon Pineda-Isaac – District 2 is unopposed, but has troubles too early for the Yonkers Tribune to expose. What can be said is that the mechanisms to control her future votes is done. She has been turned into a puppet.
Yonkers City Council Minority Leader Michael Sabatino – DIstrict 3 has two more years to his term in office. More about him in coming weeks.
And yes, the prospect for term limits to be rescinded by a vote in 2017 is likely to be brought before the Yonkers City Council because all seven members are in agreement they will vote toward that end. it seems Yonkersites will each get a briquette of black coal this Christmas. Merry Christmas one and all.
Far be it for the Yonkers Tribune to suggest options exist. So we won’t!
Yonkersites do have the opportunity to cast their vote in the November 7, 2017 General Election. Yonkersites can permit the insiders to maintain their privileges and pecking order or they can cast their vote for those who will serve all Yonkersites best, not just members of the “Family and Friends Network”.
Yonkers Tribune suggests there are no front runners, but the opportunity to change course may at last be at hand.
