WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — December 19, 2017 — Just finished the holiday decorating, our Manger scene needed work, lost a few sheep, added some straw, and one of the wise men needed a bit of Elmer’s glue, but otherwise good to go; then poured myself a hot cocoa and wrote this week’s “Ho! Ho! Ho!” edition of “News & Notes.”

A food drive and benefit radio show for the Community Center of Northern Westchester’s Food Pantry was held recently. Mary Ellen McLaughlin, Ellen Devey, Clare Murray, Executive Director of the Community Center of Northern Westchester and “The Clubhouse” radio team at the annual “Christmas Spectacular” at Grand Prix NY in Mount Kisco where over 800 lbs. of food was collected for the Center.

We held our annual “Clubhouse Christmas Spectacular” food drive and radio benefit show for The Community Center of Northern Westchester at Grand Prix NY in Mount Kisco.  We raised over 800 pounds of food for the center.  The Holiday Food Drive 2017 collects food and monetary donations for hundreds of neighbors during the month of December.  Items most needed are fresh fruit, mixed nuts, cookies in a tin, hot chocolate, instant or ground coffee and small boxes of tea bags.  The Community Center of Northern Westchester is located at 84 Bedford Rd. in Katonah. Congratulations and three cheers to the Pleasantville High School Football team as they recently took home their first-ever state championship defeating Chenango Forks of Binghamton 28-14 in the Class B title game at Syracuse University’s Carrier Dome.

My wife reminded me that the Bedford Hills Community Farmers Market will be held on Saturdays through June from 10am to 2pm, including this Saturday December 23rd at the Depot Plaza.

Even though we have had out first snow, the six county-owned golf courses will close for the season after play on Sunday, December 31st. They will remain open until that date, weather and conditions permitting; check with the individual course.

Speaking of snow, our good friends at Thunder Ridge Ski Area tell us they are open for the season in nearby Paterson, NY, the Jeffers gang has been there and it is a blast…

As a thank you to neighbors and supporters, the Katonah Museum of Art presents free admission day on Sunday, December 24th.

Since my daughters will be home for the holidays, I think we will try out Family Yoga on Friday December 22nd 11:15 to 11:45am at the Pound Ridge Library.

The Westchester Broadway Theatre in Elmsford Is Proud to Present “The Christmas Voyager,” a Holiday Musical Adventure by Bob Fitzsimmons, running through December 23rd.  This Delightful Holiday Musical is a true celebration of the Season.  All the splendor of Christmas is brought to life in a magical journey through Yuletides past.  The holiday songs we all know and love are wrapped up in a heartwarming celebration of spirit that will delight audiences of all ages.

On February 2nd, head over to the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater in Peekskill to get up close and personal with Grammy-winning singer Pat Benatar.

The eagle returns to the nest on Saturday, February 10th, when the 14th Annual Hudson River Eagle Fest festival lands in Croton Point Park. In celebration of the bald eagle’s migration.

Our friend Michael Caprio tells us that Human Nature one of the world’s finest pop-vocal groups has released their album “Jukebox: The Ultimate Playlist” that coincides with their national PBS special “Human Nature: ‘Jukebox’ in Concert from the Venetian” in December 2017 and subsequent USA tour in the spring of 2018. Good luck boys…
