WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — April 30, 2018 — Who knew that May was Hamburger month, except maybe Wimpy from the Popeye cartoons…I just fired down two bacon cheese and headed off to write this week’s “burger on a bun” edition of “News & Notes.”

Since they opened 44 years ago, the Westchester Broadway Theatre has been committed to the community.  They now shine the WBT spotlight on hunger and helping to feed many needy families in the community and ask for your help.  Help provide canned and boxed food for the following organizations that feed the homeless and provide food for those in need; St. Bartholomew’s Soup Kitchen, Westchester Lifting Up, and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel’s Food Pantry.  Needed are; Canned Soup, Canned Vegetables, Tomato Sauce & Assorted Pasta, Canned Tuna Fish, Canned Chicken, Macaroni & Cheese, Canned Milk, Powdered Coffee Creamer, Canned Fruit, Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate.  Look for the collection boxes in the WBT lobby now through June 15th.

Speaking of the Westchester Broadway Theatre, my wife and I just saw “Sister Act,” featuring original music by Tony and 8-time Oscar winner Alan Menken, with dazzling dance routines and songs inspired by Motown, Soul, and Disco, it was a really fun evening.  The show runs through July 1st.

It’s time to lace up those sneakers and head out to the Cure Cystic Fibrosis Walk on Sunday May 20th at the Lyndhurst Estate in Tarrytown, the slowpoke walker may very well be me, see you there…

We recently had Winners Circle Racing’s management team Charlie & Matt on “The Clubhouse” sports radio show.  They were a blast and told our listeners how to join the exciting world of race horse ownership, so, “Yes,” I now have a fraction of a race horse More Than Many, wish us luck and don’t tell my wife…

Spring Crafts at Lyndhurst, a celebration of all things handmade, returns to Tarrytown on May 4-6.

Westchester County has announced that the 50th Annual Salute to seniors is set for Wednesday, May 2nd at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. The free event for seniors and caregivers will include a resource showcase with more than 90 vendors, a health and wellness fair, live entertainment, dancing and more.  Hosted by Westchester County’s Department of Senior Programs and Services (DSPS), the event will take place from 9:30am to 2:30pm and is open to all County senior citizens.
