More Blue Truth – From the CLSA
An excerpt from an email sent out by CLSA President Chris Sapienza yesterday, April 17, 2018 reads as follows:
YONKERS, NY — “Despite what has been reported in the news and social media, we have neither offered nor been asked by the mayor or city council to give concessions to help with the shortfall. When the other union presidents and I met with the mayor, we respectfully asked that the narrative not be that our members or contracts are the cause for the city’s shortfall. Did our salaries increase? Yes. Did our medical coverage increase? Yes. Many factors have been brought to bear and neither we nor the city should be looking to assign blame.
“Rather, we need to work together and find a viable solution.
“Many of our members are taking the position that we should not give any concessions under any circumstances. We are not prepared to give concessions at this time, but I would avoid absolutes. It’s easy to say “never” if you are secure in your position and not on the chopping block. If it means saving one or more of our members, we must consider it. I will not be the one making that decision. If the time comes, we will put it to a vote.”
The takeaway is crystal… the CLSA membership is being subtly prepared to shoulder the fiscal debacle perpetrated under Mayor Mike Spano inept fiscal governance aided and abetted by those that spoke in his name.
CLSA President Sapienza is evidently the first Benedict Arnold to reveal his self serving behavior. What was Sapienza promised? It won’t be too long before all Yonkersites learn the meaning of “quid pro quo”.
