YONKERS, NY — June 2, 2018 —The City of Yonkers City Council Republican Caucus would like to inform the residents of Yonkers that they are working closely with Mayor Míke Spano and their democratic colleagues on the City Council to balance the upcoming fiscal year’s operating budget.

The Republican Caucus believes that it is vital that a comprehensive budget is approved with the right balance in cost cutting and revenue increases.

Yonkers City Council Minority Leader Michael Breen said, “my Republican caucus has gone line by line through the executive budget to identify where we can tighten our belts. We must run more efficiently and leaner than ever. Every dollar will count in this year’s budget.”

As a new councilmember I swore to uphold the charter of the City of Yonkers. The charter calls for the passage of a budget by June 1st.  We are working with the Mayor and the Democratic Councilmembers to find a clear and balanced solution,” said Councilman Rubbo. “Not only are we trying to solve this year’s budget, but we are working to ensure this year’s increase in revenues help our city through the coming fiscal years as well.”

I have worked as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) for the past 30 years. I am working diligently to apply my core accounting principles to balancing the budget and to laying the groundwork for us to shift Yonkers out of this never ending story of looming budget issues,” stated Councilman Merante.

The Council Republicans expect to meet with the Mayor over the weekend to continue negotiating a path to passage.

    1. Which is what? Nothing. The party is only a label/Brand. They do nothing but featherbed each other’s friends and family.
Please get over yourself and see them all for what they are, scammers. It doesn’t matter the party. They are all the same.

  1. Breen cares abiut one thing and one thing only – elimination of term limits. He needs 2 more years for his pension and that is the only reason you see him around now. Where have you been the past 6 years Mike ?

  2. This is the funniest quote ever. “my Republican caucus has gone line by line through the executive budget to identify where we can tighten our belts. We must run more efficiently and leaner than ever. Every dollar will count in this year’s budget.”
Mr. Breen if you went through any budget line by line in any past year we would not be in the state we are in.

What about the last 6 years when you did nothing? Pathetic, feigning interest at the last minute. Puleaaase.

    1. Rubber, you are so right. The bipartisan jerks Breen, Sabatino, Pineda and the gone but not forgotten McLaughlin and Larkin (who made sure he got city jobs for son, daughter and now son-in-law) made a mess of Yonkers. LMAO that fat Breen claims he tore this budget apart line by line. If he spent nearly as much time scrutinizing the budget as he has had stuffing his face, he might actually have had a suggestion.
