WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — July 10, 2018 — In preparation for our family vacation to the beach, I threw some sand on my peanut butter & jelly sandwich, drank a glass of salt water and jumped into a vat of suntan lotion, all set to go…but first, this week’s “Vacation is all I ever wanted” edition of “News & Notes.”

The annual Pleasantville Music Festival, New York’s Backyard Jam takes place on Saturday, July 14th, at Parkway Field in Pleasantville. Enjoy a great day with friends; The Pleasantville Music Festival is dedicated to hosting original music with an emphasis on regional performers. The PMF fosters a strong sense of community amongst the residents of the Village, its neighbors, the musicians and charitable organizations. The Festival also seeks to enhance Pleasantville as a cultural destination.

The Victory Cup, ‘America’s Polo Match’, is teaming up with craft brewers from New York and beyond this summer to put on a craft brewers festival in Patterson on July 14th.  They are excited to announce the partnership between “The Beer Festival” and “The Victory Cup” for 2018. Our friends at the Westchester Broadway Theatre in Elmsford have a great treat currently running through September 9th, “Anything Goes” is the winner of three 2011 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival and considered one of the greatest Tap Dancing musicals of all time.  My lovely wife and I recently saw it and I must say we tapped all the way home…

You certainly don’t want to miss the action this summer when New York’s only professional tennis team, the New York Empire compete July 15th though August 4th at the USTA Billie jean King National Tennis Center, in fast, exciting team competition.  Watch the best tennis players in the world face off in World Team Tennis action.  Including top American star John Isner. Wimbledon finalist Genie Bouchard, and former top ten Player Mardy Fish.  Cheer on the New York Empire as they compete for their first team championship…for tickets go to

The Small Town Theatre Company presents as part of their Summer Concert series, on July 28th at 8pm Jazz with the Charlie LaGond Band.  Co-Founder of Lagond Music School, Charlie Lagond has worked as a professional musician for over 35 years, performing around the world with artists including Chet Baker, Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, Bernard Purdie, Chuck Mangione, The Jackson Five, the Temptations, and Natalie Cole.

My brothers at the Katonah American Legion and The Sons of the American Legion present “Gunsmoke – Country Western and More” on Friday July 20th at 7pm, the cost is $20, they will have beverages and food available, please bring lawn chairs, and come rain or shine…

Also up in up in Katonah, Caramoor presents “Bernstein’s Broadway” on July 14th at 8pm…

The fun continues with Winners Circle Racing’s Charlie & Matt as our horse, More Than Many has won twice now, even told my wonderful wife the good news and now she wants to head over to Yonkers Raceway to watch the next race, stay tuned…

Still not sure why I can hit a golf ball straight and far on the driving range, but when it comes to the real course I always seem to find trees, water or the cart path, oh well I’ll keep trying, although my best play continues to be on Mini Golf courses, see you next time…
