YONKERS, NY and WHITE PLAINS, NY — September 17, 2018 — The Westchester County Board of Legislators is holding a hearing tonight, Monday, Sept. 17th, on important legislation – the Earned Sick Leave Bill – at 7:30pm
Supporters from more than two dozen community groups, activist organization and supportive unions, including 32BJ, TWU Local 100 and CWA will be attending.
The law would enable workers to earn up to 5 paid sick days from their employer per year – so they don’t have to choose between paying the bills and getting healthy. Right now, more than 130,000 workers in Westchester are compelled to go to work while sick, including school bus operators, fast-food workers, store clerks and others.
The hearing will be held at the Westchester County Board Legislator’s office building: 145 Martine Ave., 8th Floor, White Plains, NY 10601
