YONKERS, NY — November 19, 2018 — Operation Santa Clause raises funds to assist developmentally disabled children and adults. They will award $19,500 in grants at a press conference to be held Tuesday, November 20th at 12Noon, at the Westchester School for Special Children.
Several area organizations that serve persons with developmental disabilities will be awarded grants, including Sail at Ferncliff Manor, Richmond Community Services, NY Creative Arts Therapy Foundation, Jawonio and Westchester School for Special Children.
The organizations will use the funds to purchase equipment and enhance programs that are not otherwise funded for their residents and clients who have developmental disabilities.
“Operation Santa Claus is a Yonkers tradition that began more than twenty years ago, and reveals the generosity of our residents and businesses to those who could use some extra help,” said Honorary Chairman Senator Nick Spano.
Operation Santa Claus will also announce details of its upcoming Holiday Party Brunch on Sunday, December 2nd at Fairways at Dunwoodie, which will raise funds for future grants to assist persons with developmental disabilities.
Sponsorships are available at $1,500, patron tables for $500, and individual tickets for $50.00.
This year’s brunch will honor NY Creative Arts Therapy Foundation 2018 with the Outstanding Provider Award, Yonkers Police Benevolent Association with the 2018 Community Service Award, and Richard Stern with the 2018 Parent/Advocate Award.
The brunch begins at 10 a.m. on December 2nd at Fairway at Dunwoodie, 1 Wasylenko Drive in Yonkers, at the Dunwoodie Golf Course.
