Little Big Launch
OSSINING, NY — February 22, 2019 — Today we launched the Little Big Campaign! What better way to celebrate Earth Day? This clean streets initiative will make our downtown an even more vibrant place to live, work and socialize. Thank you to the members of the Downtown Development Fund Council (DDFC) for leading this effort. Pictured with me and Deputy Mayor/Trustee Rika Levin, are DDFC members Andrew Kaplan, Kathryn Corena and Jon Zeltsman. Learn more at https://littlebigossining.com.
At last week’s legislative session we appointed Paul Fraioli to the position of Acting Village Manager. Paul has nearly 18 years of service to the Village, and has the respect of his colleagues. We are fortunate that he is able to step into this temporary role. I have the utmost confidence that he, and all the village staff, will keep our local government running smoothly during this time of transition.
Last week the Village Board also approved funding some of our high visibility 2019 capital projects. The $530,000 for roadway and sidewalk resurfacing comes from a combination of sources including the state program known as CHIPS and the village General Fund. Basketball courts in a number of Village Parks will be resurfaced this year with $220,000 from the In Lieu of Parkland Fund which comes from fees paid by developers. This fund is targeted for investment in parks and recreation infrastructure improvements.
Open Office Hours with the Mayor will take place tomorrow from 10am-12noon in the Board of Trustees office on the first floor of Village Hall. No appointment is necessary, and all are welcome to discuss any topic, concern or idea of interest to you.
Have a burning question or idea, at any hour of the day or night?… Email me (firstname.lastname@example.org), the Board of Trustees (email@example.com) or Acting Village Manager Paul Fraioli (firstname.lastname@example.org).
This week’s work session opens with a visit from Village Treasurer Tom Warren. Tom will continue his excellent work of keeping our finances on track with a discussion of mayor and trustee retirement reporting, as well as recommending actions for closing the books on our 2018 expenses.
Work sessions are forums when the Village Board meets with staff and experts to get informed on potential action to be taken, and generally is not open for public comment. However, the public is invited to attend in person or to watch the meeting on television, the village website, or YouTube.
