Yonkers City Councilmember Shanae V. Williams represents Council District 1.

YONKERS, NY – June 20, 2019 — Service Employees International Union Local 704 and 704B have endorsed Councilwoman Shanae Williams for re-election. SEIU is made up of over 300 clerical city employees and inspectors who serve in various city departments. Councilwoman Williams has been a long-time supporter of labor unions. She has been explicit in her support through her vote history, always on the side of working families in her district.

Councilwoman Williams commented: “It is the highest honor to be endorsed by SEIU 704 and 704B, a union that represents workers in city government, working toward the same goals as we are on the Council. Working families are the backbone of our City, and the continued support of SEIU 704 is a great boost to our campaign. I pledge to keep working every day for Yonkers’ many working families, and to use my platform to keep building up District 1.”

“On behalf of the members of SEIU Local 704 and 704B and the political action committee, I am happy to announce that our Union endorses Councilwoman Shanae Williams for the 1st Council District,” said Dominick Savarese, President of the union. “The City is growing. There is a lot of development and changes going on throughout the City. Most of it is occurring down by the waterfront in the 1st District. From her days in the Mayor’s office through her time on the Council, Shanae Williams has been a part of it all. In our opinion, Shanae is the right person to represent the constituents in District 1. I am looking forward to working with her and her fellow Council members in the coming years.”

  1. It is unfortunate that Ms. Williams did not get the endorsement of her party. We can fix this on primary day. Terrence Miller barely knows how government works. He wants to increase taxes and bad regulations.
