YONKERS, NY — June 7, 2019 — On Thursday, June 6th, 2019, at approximately 7:37 PM, members of the Yonkers Police Department responded to the vicinity of 6 Schroeder Street on a report of a stabbing incident. Upon arrival officers located the victim, a 17-year-old male resident of Schroeder Street, with a puncture wound to his chest; first responders rendered medical aid and the victim was transported to a local area trauma center where he is listed in stable condition with a non-life threatening injury. Officers cordoned off the area and initiated a criminal investigation.
Detectives from the Major Case Squad and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene, interviewing subjects and witnesses, reviewing surveillance video, and processing forensic evidence; a knife was located at the crime scene and recovered as evidence. Shortly thereafter, a second victim was located at a local area hospital with a non-life threatening stab wound to his neck; he is a 26-year-old resident of Nepperhan Avenue and is listed in stable condition.
Preliminary investigation has yielded that both victims were in the vicinity of Schroeder Street when the assaults occurred; Detectives are actively developing information to identify the perpetrator(s) and effect an arrest. Investigators believe these incidents are connected and not the result of random events. Additional information may be released as it becomes available.
