YONKERS, NY — June 14, 2019 — The Yonkers Industrial Development Agency held its 18th Annual Parkledge Breakthrough Scholarship Award Ceremony today and presented 10 high school seniors with $2,500 college scholarships.
Mayor Mike Spano presented awards to students from seven Yonkers high schools. Family and friends, city and school officials attended the ceremony held June 14 in the Mayor’s Reception Room in Yonkers City Hall. Also participating in the ceremony were Yonkers Superintendent of Schools Dr. Edwin Quezada, IDA Executive Director Jaime McGill and Andrew Caballero of Parkledge Apartments.
“Congratulations to all of this year’s scholars, who have committed themselves to reach for greatness while making Yonkers proud,” said Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano. “Thank you to the IDA for investing in our young people and setting them up for continued success in the future.”
The scholarship fund, created by the Parkledge Apartments, is awarded to high school seniors in good academic standing who live in public housing, have completed four years of high school in Yonkers and plan to attend a post-secondary program.

- Sariah Taylor, Riverside High School
- Janelle Isys Ross, Gorton High School
- Samiha Mohamed, Roosevelt High School
- Niclaire Bice, Sacred Heart
