GREENBURGH, NY — July 27, 2019 — There is a need for more cricket fields in Westchester County. I have written to every mayor and town supervisor in Westchester asking them to consider retro-fitting a field for cricket. It’s an extremely popular sport.  The link herein is a radio interview I conducted on WVOX-1460AM radio with members of the Greenburgh Cricket Committee.  The cricket team plays every Sunday morning at Richard Presser Park, on Central Avenue, in Hartsdale, NY.

Greenburgh is the first local government in Westchester to have a cricket field. There is a great need for this sport and tremendous enthusiasm among residents who are from Asia, the Caribbean, and Africa. But there is one problem – more people want to play than we have allocated space. Cricket is the second most popular sport in the world. During the interview some of the guests called cricket “a religion”.

I am also writing to Greenburgh Schools asking that they offer cricket to their students and retrofit their fields for the sport.

The WVOX-1460AM radio interview is hyperlinked below. The interview highlights the steps taken by Greenburgh to offer residents this sport.
