Summer Celebration

Ossining’s Fourth of July 2019 fireworks celebration.

Were you among the estimated 8,000 folks who joined in the fireworks celebration at the waterfront last week? Thank you to all the first responders, parks and public works staff from the Town and Village who made this terrific event a success.

Live music at the waterfront continues all summer long. The Friday night Summer Concert Series happens at Louis Engel happens weekly, and the Celebrate Jazz series takes place on alternating Monday evenings in Henry Gourdine Park. See below to learn about live music happening in downtown beginning this Wednesday evening.

Last week’s brief legislative session included voting on resolutions to pay bills, approve minutes, and reappoint a member of the Downtown Development Fund Council.

Community Connections

Open Office Hours with the Mayor will take place tomorrow in the Board of Trustees office on the first floor of Village Hall from 10:00am until 12:00noon. No appointment is necessary, and all are welcome to discuss any topic, concern or idea of interest to you.

Have a burning question or idea, at any hour of the day or night?… Email me (mayor@villageofossining.org), the Board of Trustees (bot@villageofossining.org) or Village Manager Karen D’Attore (kdattore@villageofossining.org).

Work Session

This week we have a hefty work session. Click here to read the full agenda. Items include a discussion of a fee schedule for use of rooms at the Community Center and Market Square, as well as how to formalize the process for consideration of honorary names for village roadways. In the past year we established a process for proposals to provide honorary names in Village parks. Since that new structure was put in place the Village Board has passed a resolution to name the skate park at Snowden Park in honor of Gregory Jackson.

Work sessions are forums when the Village Board meets with staff and experts to become informed on potential action to be taken, and generally is not open for public comment. However, the public is invited to attend in person or to watch the meeting on television, the village website, or YouTube.

With Regards,
