YONKERS, NY — August 18, 2019 —A blaze ripped through a Yonkers building last Sunday, August 11, 2019, displacing over 80 people at 149 North Broadway.
However, it wasn’t the first time that the building suffered a devastating fire. In fact, Michael Oles’ relative owned the building the last time the building was damaged by a devastating fire. You could say that building fires run in Mr. Oles’ blood.
As we’ve written previously, Sunday’s fire wasn’t the first one to occur at 149 North Broadway. As the New York Times reported, a major fire in the same Yonkers building claimed the life of a 9-year-old girl back in 2003. At the time of the fire, the building had a number of outstanding code violations and was owned by Robert Tauber, a Yonkers Police Officer who now enjoys a $96,000 pension each year.
Here’s the rub: the building’s former owner, Robert Tauber, is directly related to its current owner, Michael Oles. You could say that devastating building fires run in the family.
Fires at 149 North Broadway seem to run in the Oles/Tauber family.
How Many LLCs Does It Take to Run a Yonkers Apartment Building?
Do you know the name of your landlord? Do you know the owner of your building? The odds are that you don’t, and landlords and owners want to keep it that way.
Consider the following: many landlords require prospective tenants to submit or are granted access to an extraordinary range of private, sensitive information – credit scores, date of birth, rental history, driver’s license, income, employment information, criminal history, social security number, telephone number(s), e-mail address(es), references, etc.
And yet when it comes to identifying a landlord, most tenants never get beyond an anonymous LLC listing, which, of course, is by design. There are a number of legitimate legal and financial reasons for a landlord to place a residential property into an LLC, or Limited Liability Company. However, many unscrupulous landlords hide behind a blizzard of LLCs in order to conceal the number of buildings that they own or to avoid paying fines to local governments in the case of managed neglect of their property.
Michael Oles and His Many LLCs
Well, we know that he lives in a million-dollar community in Rye Brook, NY. His address is 33 Arrowwood Circle.
We also know that, just like most reputed slumlords, he has a fondness for LLCs. Here are some of his LLCs, both active and inactive:
ZIMIDON INC – (33 ARROWWOOD CIRCLE, RYE BROOK, NEW YORK, 10573) – Principals: CLIFF AVENUE REALTY CORP (NEW YORK)
TALFOX HOLDINGS INC – (33 ARROWWOOD CIRCLE, RYE BROOK, NEW YORK, 10573) – Principals: DEBORAH POND HEIDE 100 R (NEW YORK)
OLES MANAGEMENT INC – Principals: MICHAEL OLES 188 GARTH R (NEW YORK)
T.K.O. REALTY CORP. – (33 ARROWWOOD CIRCLE, RYE BROOK, NEW YORK, 10573) – Principals: MICHAEL OLES (NEW YORK)

AD RON FOOD CORP – (33 ARROWWOOD CIRCLE, RYE BROOK, NEW YORK, 10573) – Principals: MICHAEL OLES (NEW YORK)
CLIFF AVENUE REALTY CORP (NEW YORK) – Principals: MICHAEL OLES (NEW YORK)
Just how many residential buildings in Yonkers does the Oles family own? And just how many Yonkers residents must continue to suffer under their “management?”
Affluent and white, Michael Oles and his family have a history of mismanaging residential buildings under their ownership in some of the poorest minority communities across Yonkers.
His family also has a history of devastating fires in buildings that they own, with at least one instance of a child losing its life.
The Oles family has built its wealth on the backs of the poorest residents in Yonkers.
And the Oles family has a direct connection to the Yonkers Police department – at the very least.
Let the cover up begin.
