WESTCHESTER COUNTY — September 5, 2019 — Welcome to “News & Notes,” where we look at the happenings here in Westchester County…

As we head into the Fall and then the Winter season, the big question at our house, is do I buy my wonderful wife a new lawn rake or snow shovel, once I make this big decision, and am allowed back into the house, I will finish up this week’s “In the doghouse” edition of “News & Notes.”

It’s time to lace up your sneakers for the annual KVIS 5K Race set to go again this fall on Saturday September 7, join the Katonah Village Improvement Society for this fun race!

Our friends at the Katonah American Legion will hold their annual Clambake on Saturday, September 14 from noon to 6 p.m. great food, beer, wine, soft drinks, music, raffles and tons of fun, hope to see you there.

My wife was a little sad to report that the final Herb Garden Day for 2019 will take on Saturday, September 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Farmers Market at John Jay Homestead.

I think I gained three pounds just mentioning this…the annual Bedford Tri-Festa will take place on Saturday, September 21, from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bedford Hills Memorial Park.  There will be food trucks, beer & wine, live music, and kids’ entertainment.  This family friendly event is a celebration of our wonderful Bedford community – Bedford Hills, Bedford Village & Katonah – “Three Hamlets –Three Times the Fun!”

Back by popular demand, the family campout will be held at the Katonah Memorial Park from 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7 to 10:30 a.m.Sunday, September 8.  This is a fun family activity and a wonderful opportunity to experience the beauty of camping in your own backyard.

The good folks at the Community Center of Northern Westchester in Katonah have kicked off their school supplies drive and are gathering items that will help students get off to a better start in September.  They welcome contributions of new supplies; or a donation of $25 which will provide a student with basic supplies.

The Katonah Library is stepping out with some dance lesson this September, classes will be held on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., for registration and more information, call 232-3508, ext. 2.  Count me in for a little salsa and tango…

Or how about a little Do-Si-Do, the next free square dancing, Fun Night is set for September 23 and 30, at 7:30 p.m. at the Katonah Methodist Church.   Singles, couples, and families are welcome. The attire is casual and no experience is necessary, sounds right up my alley.

Our weekly sports radio show “The Clubhouse” returns to the air on September 11, live on WGCH AM1490, 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, we will once again broadcast from Grand Prix NY in Mount Kisco.  The fall shows are being sponsored by our good friends the School of Professional Studies at Manhattanville College and POW’R Against Tobacco.

Ready, set, go…the fall sports season is now fully underway, so head out and cheer on all our local sports teams…
