YONKERS, NY — September 4, 2019 — Health and safety of students and staff in the Yonkers Public Schools’ cafeterias and kitchens are priority one. Yonkers Board of Education Trustee Dr. Ammir Rabadi spearheaded hands-on training for the proper administration of the Heimlich maneuver.
Dr. Rabadi gained support for the Heimlich maneuver course from St. Johns Riverside Hospital in collaboration with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medical School, Yonkers Health Advisory Board Members, John Castanaro DDS, Yonkers Public Schools Food Services Director Cherise Tafe, Yonkers Public Schools Food Services Staff, Bahamas Medical Mission Dr. Stephan Giuffrida, Doctor of Chiropractic to teach the District Food Personnel, and Kelly Chiarella, Director for the Office for the Aging.
The Heimlich maneuver course will be conducted today, Wednesday, September 4, 2019, from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, at Roosevelt High School – Early College Studies located at 631 Tuckahoe Road, Yonkers, NY 10710, Telephone: 914-376-8118.
